Let’s talk baby poops

Because somehow no one warns you that once you have a baby… you’ll spend an unreasonable amount of time discussing colours, textures, and what just came out of someone who can’t even hold their own head yet.

Baby stools can change A LOT depending on feeding, tummy bugs, teething, medications, and how their digestive system is developing. Most colours are totally normal, but some are your cue to get medical advice sooner rather than later.

You’re not “overreacting” for checking nappies, you’re being a good parent. Trust your gut (and theirs 😉). And if baby seems unsettled, gassy, or uncomfortable along with stool changes, extra support for their little body can make a big difference.

Saving this for later = future-you at 2am will be grateful.

The story behind the name: Koa Chiropractic

When I started planning for my practice in Bloemfontein, I knew I wanted a name that meant more than just Chiropractic care- I wanted something that carried heart and purpose.

Koa means "brave one". It was also the name of my beloved basset who crossed the rainbow bridge just as this dream began to take shape. His gentle, brave spirit reminded me daily to take the leap, build something meaningful, compassionate and full of care.

Koa also stands for Keeping Optimal Alignment:
Not just in the spine, but in life- balance, wellness and courage through every season.

Here's to the brave ones, the families, mom's, athletes and little ones who trust me to help them move and feel their best.

This is pediatric chiropractic…not what you think or have been shown by others. It’s becoming popular for social media influencers to try and score likes, comments, or shares by rage-baiting about chiropractic. They’ll find a random chiropractor with no pediatric training posting inflammatory videos to incite the same type of engagement for their own wannabe social media presence, and use it to denounce all of chiropractic. We’re tired of the bad faith discussions around this profession. Chiropractic is not about cracking a spine, and it’s not about pain relief, either. Chiropractic is about the relationship between the spine and nervous system. If the trauma we experience from the pushing/pulling on our neck during birth, to the accumulation of physical/chemical/emotional stress throughout life causes misalignment/restrictions in the spine it will create adverse tension within the nervous system and interfere with how our body can regulate and coordinate function, making our body less capable of adapting to the changes we experience every day. Does this contribute to pain? Sure. Does it contribute to the most common issues we see in children like breastfeeding, colic, torticollis, reflux, etc? Absolutely. But it also make it harder for us to go about life expressing health at our fullest potential. This week a mom shared with us that since starting care for her 4 year old she noticed she’s sleeping better, less emotionally volatile, and overall happier. Of course she is! Our bodies work better well-adjusted…and it’s gentle, safe, and effective for all ages!
