For me, dietetics has always been more than just a job.

It’s helping patients navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives. It’s translating science into practical, achievable steps. It’s celebrating victories, supporting setbacks, and empowering people to build healthier futures.

But it’s also what happens outside of work.

It’s teaching my children that food is more than nutrients on a plate. It’s family time in the kitchen, creating memories, sharing traditions, and learning lifelong skills together.

Being a dietitian isn’t something I switch on and off at the end of the workday - it’s a passion that influences how I care for my patients, my family, and myself.

This Dietitian’s Week, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do work that truly makes a difference, both professionally and personally.

This hearty beef stew is packed with flavour, slow-simmered goodness, and a few simple swaps that make it a little more balanced without losing the comfort-factor. Think tender beef, loads of vegetables, rich tomato and red wine flavours, served with creamy sweet potato mash.

A few small choices make a big difference:
• Trim the visible fat from the meat
• Bulk it up with vegetables
• Pair it with sweet potato mash for added fibre and nourishment

The best part? The longer it cooks, the better it gets. Perfect for chilly evenings, meal prep, or feeding the family without spending hours in the kitchen.
