WHERE DOES BONE GRAFT COME FROM?
Not all bone grafts come from the same source — and understanding the difference matters.

Bone graft materials may include:
🧍 Autograft — bone from your own body
👥 Allograft — bone tissue from a screened human donor
🐄 Xenograft — material derived from an animal source
🧪 Synthetic graft — a manufactured bone substitute

Each has different characteristics and clinical applications, and the appropriate choice depends on the procedure and individual patient needs.

At SpesCo Orthobiologics, we believe knowledge supports informed conversations.

🦴 WHAT IS A BONE GRAFT?

Bone grafts play an important role in many orthopaedic procedures — but how much do you actually know about the graft being used.
Bone grafts may be used to support bone healing and regeneration, restore bone defects or support fusion. 🦴

In In spinal surgery, a bone graft serves as a powerful biological catalyst and structural framework, permanently fusing two or more vertebrae into a single, solid bone. This procedure, known as spinal fusion, effectively stabilises the spine, eliminates painful vertebral motion, and corrects spinal deformities. Although metal hardware such as screws, rods, and plates provides temporary stabilisation ation, the bone graft is the key element that establishes a permanent, biological weld for lasting results.

SpesCo’s Bone Graft releases biochemical signals and growth factors (such as Bone Morphogenetic Proteins, or BMPs) within the graft that actively attract the body’s immature stem cells and encourage them to mature into bone-forming cells.

SpesCo cervical bone grafts play a crucial role in spinal fusion surgeries, such as the Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF). These grafts serve as a vital bridge, encouraging new bone growth to securely fuse vertebrae in the neck. By restoring stability, they help alleviate pain caused by nerve compression, instability, or disc degeneration, paving the way for improved mobility and quality of life.
