It's Global Handwashing Day! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿงผ Yes, there really is a day for everything โ€“ but this one has earned its spot on the calendar.

Washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds is still one of the simplest ways to stop germs from spreading through your home, school and workplace. It sounds small, but it really does make a difference โ€“ especially with little ones in the house.

A quick reminder of when it matters most: before eating or preparing food, after using the bathroom, when you get home, and whenever someone in the family is feeling under the weather. Teach the kids to sing 'Happy Birthday' twice while they scrub and they'll get to 20 seconds every time (we can't promise it will be in tune ๐Ÿ˜‰).

๐Ÿ‘‰ Running low on hand wash or sanitiser? Pop in to your nearest The Local Choice Pharmacy! We're here for you. ๐Ÿซถ

Sindi and Cianlia have a question for youโ€ฆ๐Ÿ‘€

When you come into the pharmacy, are your hands actually clean?

And we mean properly washed - with soap, not just a quick rinse under the tap!

Just checking. Because we handle a lot of things at the pharmacy, and your germs shouldn't be one of them! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜†

๐Ÿ’ฆIt's Global Handwashing Day today! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Be a hero. Be a handwashing hero. Do it for Sindi and Cianlia.

๐Ÿšจ Could you be at risk of a stroke and not know it?

Your blood pressure, heart rhythm and artery health can provide important clues about your stroke risk. In fact, atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart rhythm condition, can increase your risk of an ischaemic stroke by up to five times.

๐Ÿ‘‰ For October 2026, for just R75, participating The Local Choice Pharmacies are partnering up with Rossmax to screen for stroke risk. Come in for a stroke assessment today.

A few of our favourite things in pink ๐Ÿ’—๐ŸŽ—

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and weโ€™re adding a little pink to our pharmacy while keeping the focus where it belongs: on awareness, early detection and looking after our health.

Breast cancer can affect anyone, and knowing the signs and getting regular screenings can make an important difference.

Letโ€™s stand together, support one another and fight breast cancer together.๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’š

Healthy joints support a life in motion.๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Arthritis can affect more than your joints. It can make everyday activities, from walking to getting dressed, more challenging.

This World Arthritis Day, letโ€™s raise awareness about joint health, recognise the signs of arthritis and encourage those experiencing joint pain or stiffness to seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Healthy joints make everyday life better and easier.๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’š

Today is World Mental Health Day.

We're quick to notice a cough or a fever, but the signs that our minds need care are much easier to miss: trouble sleeping, feeling withdrawn, constant exhaustion, or losing interest in the things you usually enjoy.

Life is busy, and it's easy to push through and tell yourself that you're just tired. But if these feelings have been hanging around for a while, they deserve your attention โ€“ just like any other symptom would. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿซถ

๐Ÿ‘‰ If this sounds like you or someone you love, please reach out. Talk to someone you trust, chat to your pharmacist or doctor, or call SADAG's 24-hour helpline toll-free on 0800 567 567. You don't have to carry it alone.
