Infant immunisation coverage in the Western Cape has dropped to 67.4%, well below the 90% target needed to protect communities.

Health officials warn that thousands of babies could remain vulnerable to preventable diseases, including measles, polio and whooping cough.

The province says Covid-19 disruptions, vaccine hesitancy and misinformation have contributed to lower vaccination rates among children.

Parents are being urged to check their child’s Road-to-Health Booklet and visit public clinics for free catch-up vaccinations if needed.
