This weekend will go down in ILoveBoobies history.
In nearly 10 years, we have never experienced this level of awareness, exposure and community support in a single weekend.
From Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria to DHL Stadium in Cape Town, ILoveBoobies took centre stage for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hundreds of thousands of eyes on our message. We can only imagine the doors this exposure will open, and we are incredibly grateful.
Across South Africa, at 25 Secret Swim venues, 2,500 women came together. To celebrate survivors. To honour those we have lost. To stand alongside the women still fighting. A beautiful reminder of the power of community, connection and showing up for one another.
But perhaps the most important number of the entire weekend is 91.
While all of this was happening, our nurses were quietly doing what we exist to do.
At Willowbridge Shopping Centre, 91 women received free breast health screenings.
12 of those women were referred for further medical investigation.
This week, those 12 women will begin the next step of their journey with our radiology partners, receiving the diagnostic care they need.
And THIS is why we do it.
Why we raise awareness. Why we fundraise. Why we show up at stadiums, organise swims and ask people to get behind our mission.
Because behind every campaign, every event and every moment of publicity is a woman who deserves access to early detection.
Awareness opens doors. Fundraising makes screening possible. Early detection saves lives.
To every person, partner, sponsor, volunteer and supporter who made this extraordinary weekend possible, thank you.
You helped us reach hundreds of thousands. But most importantly, you helped us reach the women who needed us.
THAT is what ILoveBoobies is all about.
