🙋‍♀️🙋🏿In support of the thrive by age 5 movement, we advocate for the mental health of our small kids by provi

ding skills training to the grown-ups that help raise them. We do this by providing parents and caregivers with greater access to research-backed parenting resources that has scientifically been proven to help kids and family systems thrive long-term.

🧠Our skill-building resources are geared towards helping caregivers of young children gain a bio-psycho-social perspective of early childhood development and how to respond (discipline) in developmentally considerate ways.

☀️The holidays can be a great change in routine ⛱️ but with that change in routine it can also cause lots of big feelings and new, often mind-boggeling behaviours from out little ones.

⚡️It is not so much that the behaviour is new, rather, in spending more time together, it can become more noticeable- providing a great window into learning what their behaviour is trying to tell you from the inside-out.

🤸‍♀️🤸🏻🤸🏾‍♂️Repetitive (sometimes annoying) toddler play-behaviour can be a sign that your toddler has an "itchy owl-brain". An itchy what? 🤯

☀️Keep an eye out for my holiday edition video-series over the next few weeks:

👉🏼 I will be sharing loads of free resources to help you decode your toddlers annoying owl-brain habits +
👉🏼 Practical holiday activities that actually match up with their particular brain-itch for a propper brain scratch with loads of impact. ✨️✨️
👉🏼 BONUS: Scratching the itch also prevents/ reduces tantrums.

😵‍💫 Now for the parents:

🫵🏻 Yes, you!
I just want you to know...I see you!
I know it is not a real holiday for you.
This can be so hard!
24/7, on call all day and all night.
No real breaks.
No coming up for air...

❗️Holidays with little kids have a tendency to push our nervous systems into the red.
❗️I want you to know that how we react mid-parenting 💥 when we are in the red is not a character flaw.
❗️Instead, it is a sign from your body, telling you how parenting, at that particular moment, is hitting you on a nervous system level.

Confession time: I don't know about you, but parenting is one of the hardest things I have done in my entire life. No jokes! Even with years of studying psychology, no amount of knowing what to say and do in your thinking part of your brain, stops the feeling part from running its own show at times as a parent. 😬💥🫣

You say all the right things when the feelings get BIG. So why does it still go sideways?

🧎‍♀️‍➡️The calm voice.
🧎‍♀️‍➡️The gentle words.
🧎‍♀️‍➡️The script you read about, saved on your phone and practised.
🔥You did it by the book — and your child (and you) unravelled anyway. 😭🤬💥

Here is what I have learnt:
🌱 It's not because we get the words wrong.
🌱 It's because kids don't only respond to what we say. They respond to what's happening inside of us while we say it. ⚡️

👉🏼And here's the part almost no one tells you: that inner "state" isn't something you're choosing in the moment. It's running inside you, outside of your conscious awareness.

👉🏼What if your parenting style was never a decision at all?

What if the way you react;
💥 the snapping,
🫣 the shutting down,
😬 the over-fixing,
🚽 the hiding in the bathroom,
🥶 the freezing
— isn't a flaw in your character, but a signal from your body?

🔎 A clue about how parenting actually lands on your nervous system? 🧠

✨️This single shift in the way we look at our parenting reactions can change everything.

🤍The guilt loosens.
🤍The self-judgment quiets.
🤍And for the first time, your reactions start to make sense instead of making you feel like you're failing.

✨️This is the missing piece.

⚡️There's no shortage of parenting advice out there — scripts, hacks, gentle-parenting phrases for every meltdown. But you may have already noticed the uncomfortable truth: they don't hold up in the hard moments if you're not steady on the inside. 🔥😵‍💫🤬😫😭😱

⚡️You can't "perform" calm.
⚡️Your child can feel the difference.

🧠I created this course as the "why" to all of this — the eye-opening foundation that makes everything else click into place. Once you can see it, you can't unsee it.

🧠In this introductory mini-course, you'll start to see what's really happening beneath your hardest parenting moments — why those moments throw you the way they do, what your body is trying to tell you, and how your own nervous system state can also quietly shape your child's nervous system.

🌱Not with shame.
🌱With understanding, from the inside-out.
🌱This is where it begins.

✨️Come find out what your body has been trying to tell you from the inside-out. 🧠

🥱 Did you know that neuroscience has shown that yawns are highly contagious.

🧠 In fact, the same internal mechanics that make yawns so contagious are also responsible for another thing that you can “catch” from someone else.

👉🏼 If you are a parent, you are especially susceptible to catching this one from your kids. 🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏾‍♂️🤸🏻

Can you guess what it is?
Here's a clue ⚡️💣🔥😡😭

✨ ️Find out and follow along for the ride as we explore together the neuroscience behind parenting little kids, from the inside-out. 🤸🏻🤸🏾‍♂️🤸🏻‍♀️

🌟A big congratulations🌟 to the wonderful teachers of Little Einsteins Playschool who completed our Kidling Connect OWL-BRAIN WORKSHOP this week. 🙌🏼

🧠Our preschool teachers got an inside-out understanding of how little brains (0-6yrs) learn and grow neural connections ⚡️ through play.
👉🏼They will now be able to spot play-schemas as the brain is busy developing them.
🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏾‍♂️This will also help our teachers to know how to encourage this growth and development through play activities for all the little humans lucky enough to attend their school.

📸 PHOTO CREDIT:We would like to thank Luca; 🤸🏻‍♂️our awesome 4 year old photographer for the day. Thanks to you we have proof of our wonderful workshop experience (eventhough this is our only usuable/ viable group photo 🤣).

💻GOOD NEWS FOR PARENTS (of kids under 6yrs):
Our OWL-BRAIN COURSE will soon be available online. This is an ideal option for busy parents, but also au pairs/ nannies and even grandparents who would also like to learn more about how different schema play activities can be used to boost brain development in your own little ones or those in your care.

📩You are welcome to leave your name and email address if you would like to be notified when our online courses become available or feel free to send us an email at [email protected] with any questions.

👉🏼Join our KIDLING CONNECT community on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn to stay up to date with all of our new developments.

Warm regards,

Danelle Gough
Counselling Psychologist & Founder of Kidling Connect Training Hub.
