So I struggle to sleep every night, tossing and turning. Well let's have a look why:
1) It is very important to understand that when you eat any form of carbohydrate (e.g bread, rice, pasta etc with your meat) your body thinks that it is time to do activity because you are giving it energy.
If you stop eating any carbohydrates or sugars by 5 or 6pm you will be very tired by 8pm the reason so many people suffer from sleepless nights/ insomnia is because what they are eating for dinner.
2) Don't drink any caffeine no black tea/ earl grey tea/ five roses, coffee etc instead have a 100% Rooibos tea this will drastically change how relaxed you feel when lying in bed.
Caffeine acts as a central nervous system stimulant. The most noticeable effect is alertness, you'll feel more awake and less tired.
3) Don't lie down on your bed during the day unless you want to nap. If you are working sit on a desk and chair away from the bed.
Once you do this you will realize when you get in bed you feel completely at ease, instead of lying in bed all day then at night doing the same thing your body doesn't know if it's time to work or switch off.
4) Learn to cool down by having an evening routine e.g playing some calm music before bed while you are getting things ready for the next day, reading a few pages of something you find interesting, 10 minutes of meditation.
Meditation can help us to eliminate negative thoughts, worries, and anxiety putting us at ease but most importantly control of our thoughts because they control our feeling.
I hope everyone sleeps well.
