Every year 12 million girls are forced out of education and enter into child marriage, facing the dual terrors of domestic and sexual violence. They confront significant health risks due to pregnancies their young bodies are ill-equipped for. Those who survive often find themselves trapped in cycles of intergenerational poverty.
The International Federation of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (FIGIJ) passionately advocates against child marriage, viewing it as a critical violation of human rights. FIGIJ stands with these forgotten children and women. We urge international bodies to unite in strengthening legal protections for children and women, and hold accountable those who undermine their futures.
