Did you know your skin has a type? And no, we’re not talking about skin colour. 👀
Your skin type describes how your skin naturally behaves particularly when it comes to oil production, hydration and barrier function.
💧 Dry skin tends to produce less sebum and may be more prone to tightness, flaking and a compromised skin barrier.
✨ Oily skin produces more sebum, which can contribute to shine, congestion and breakouts but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need hydration.
⚖️ Combination skin behaves differently across the face, commonly with more oil through the T-zone and drier or more balanced areas elsewhere.
And this is exactly why skincare should never be one-size-fits-all.
Different skin types require different ingredients, textures and treatment strategies to support the skin barrier, regulate excess oil where needed and maintain healthy hydration.
Your skin type can also change over time due to factors such as age, hormones, climate, medication and your skincare routine so what worked for your skin five years ago may not be what it needs today.
The first step to a smarter skin plan? Understand the skin you’re actually treating.
