Overberg Tour Day 2 ☀️
Hermanus ➡️ Napier (78km)
Where to even begin on this journey… said goodbye to our lovely host at where we headed off on tar to Stanford for a much needed coffee break. From Stanford we ventured toward our final destination with our hero of the day saving a tortoise from getting ridden over. Little did we know that soon after this we’d slowly run out of water, we had about 33km to go and were running low on water (basically a quarter of one water bottle left between 5 people).
The sun was beating down hard we decided to stop at a farm to take a chance on refilling our bottles. This farm came to our rescue but so wonderfully, offering water refills, toilet break, food and a chance to take it all in. Would have never expected such accommodating and helpful people along such a difficult ride so thank you for your hospitality - we greatly appreciate it!
Onwards and upwards, we were refuelled and with 27km to go we pushed hard in the hot, unforgiving sun. Along this journey we met such incredible people, the hills broke us and somehow made it into Napier with (barely) smiles on our faces at about 5:30pm - long day out. To end it off we made our way to the whirlpool bath and treated ourselves to some beers and aperols, thank you .
