Happy Monday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

Over the past week, Cape Town truly lived up to its name as the Cape of Storms, with severe weather affecting many families in our community. Despite the heavy rain and strong winds, our learners continued to show remarkable resilience and courage. We are grateful to provide a warm, safe, and caring environment during these challenging days.

Although the storm impacted attendance and limited some of our normal classroom activities, valuable lessons in resilience, compassion, and community spirit emerged throughout the week. Our learners are also continuing to prepare for their mid-year assessments, with the current classroom theme focusing on Farm Animals.

A special thank you goes to The Learning Initiative, who are currently supporting our learners through dedicated sessions and continue to make a meaningful impact within our school community.

We also recently hosted a successful parent-teacher meeting, where families and educators came together to strengthen communication and support the well-being and development of our learners. These partnerships remain an important part of the iThemba journey.

Despite the severe weather conditions, we are incredibly proud that our staff maintained a 100% attendance rate, continuing to care for and support our learners with dedication and compassion. Their commitment and teamwork remain a true source of strength within our school community. 🫢

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths, Premier Bakery, and Shoprite for their weekly donations of food, bread, and soup, as well as all our sponsors for their continued support. πŸ™

Happy Thursday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

The start of the second term has been a gradual one, with winter weather bringing colder days and rain over the past two weeks. Despite these challenges, our learners continue to show remarkable resilience, arriving each day with energy and a willingness to learn. πŸ“šπŸ˜‡

We are grateful to provide warm meals and cosy classrooms to help create a safe and caring environment during the colder season.

Our theme for the fortnight was β€œJobs People Do.” Our learners explored the important roles of community helpers and we were excited to welcome members of the local Law Enforcement Department for a special visit. The children enjoyed learning more about safety, community care, and the important work officers do.

A fun highlight was our dress-up activities, where our learners came dressed as their dream careers and also imitated their grandparents, bringing lots of laughter, creativity, and joyful conversations into the classroom. πŸ₯°

As always, we are incredibly thankful to our dedicated staff for their daily care and commitment. From preparing warm meals early each morning to creating welcoming classrooms and supporting families behind the scenes, their teamwork continues to make iThemba a nurturing place for our learners. 🫢

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths, Premier Bakery, and Shoprite for their weekly donations of food, bread, and soup, as well as all our sponsors for their continued support. πŸ™

Happy Monday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

The last two weeks of the first term were filled with activity, joy and meaningful learning. Our learners have grown in wonderful ways – physically, emotionally and socially. πŸ˜‡

Our theme, 'My Family and Home', fostered a strong connection between classroom learning and family life. We ended the term with two special events: Granny Day and Family Day.

Granny Day was filled with laughter as the children enjoyed imitating their grandparents, while Family Day, which was combined with our termly fundraiser, was a great success. It was filled with games, face painting, a bouncy castle, and opportunities for us all to spend time together.

We are also grateful for the support of volunteers from the International School of Cape Town, whose help made the day even more special.

We would like to thank our dedicated staff for their teamwork and commitment in creating such a joyful and supportive environment for our learners. 🫢

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths, Premier Bakery and Shoprite for their weekly food, bread and soup donations, the One&Only Hotel Group for their linen donation and all our sponsors for their continued support. πŸ™

Happy Tuesday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

We hope you’ve had a wonderful start to March.

The past couple of weeks at iThemba have been full of creativity and exploration as our learners focused on the theme β€œMy Senses.”

Through activities like building faces with sensory features, playing with Play-Doh and textured materials, and sorting different textures, our little learners developed their fine motor skills, creativity, and sensory awareness. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, curiosity, and growing confidence. πŸ˜‡

We were also privileged to welcome Kolping volunteers Lisa, Paula, and Annemarie, who worked closely with our learners and brought great care and energy to the classroom.

Another highlight was our first parent engagement session of the year, which was very well attended. It was encouraging to see such strong support from our families as we continue to strengthen the partnership between parents, learners, and educators. 🫢

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths, Premier Bakery and Shoprite for their weekly food and bread donations, as well as all of our sponsors for their continued support. πŸ™

Happy Friday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

Our learners continue to make wonderful progress in the classroom, and it has been a joy to witness their enthusiasm for school. πŸ˜‡

Storytelling remains a favorite activity, sparking the imagination of our children and teachers alike. A variety of activities have brought color and energy to our days, fostering a vibrant and supportive learning environment.

Valentine’s Day added an extra sparkle to the week. Our learners dressed up for a day of celebration and fundraising, and their excitement was contagious. Their enthusiastic participation brought joy to the entire school community. πŸ₯°

We were also happy to welcome Susanne, Hanna, and Paulina to our school community this week.

Our teachers continue to build strong, trusting relationships with our learners and parents, providing special support to our youngest children as they adjust to school life. Their patience, care, and dedication make all the difference. 🫢

We look forward to hosting our first parent-teacher meeting tomorrow, which is an important step in fostering positive partnerships and setting the foundation for the year ahead.

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths and Premier Bakery for their weekly food and bread donations, as well as all of our sponsors for their continued support. πŸ™

Happy Wednesday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

The final weeks of the school year at iThemba were filled with joy, energy, and celebration. Our little learners enjoyed a season of fun and games as we wrapped up another successful year of growth and learning.

A big highlight was our annual school concert, where the children proudly took the stage with confidence and creativity. Final assessments went smoothly, reflecting the steady progress made throughout the year. To top it all off, we celebrated not one, but two Christmas parties – each one bringing laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories.

We were especially honoured to welcome our very own Santa, Alexander Karst, Managing Director of Lufthansa InTouch, who brought smiles and joy to the children alongside his cheerful helpers. Learners also received beautifully packed gift boxes from the International School of Cape Town, making the season even more magical.

As we look back on 2025, we are proud of all our learners –especially those moving on to Grade R next year. They’ve grown in confidence, care, and curiosity, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for them.

Thank you to all families, staff, and supporters who made this year so special.

Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season and a happy start to 2026! πŸŽ„βœ¨

Happy Friday, everyone! πŸ‘‹

The past two weeks at iThemba Pre-School have been joyful and purposeful, filled with learning, preparation, and community connection.

Our classrooms were filled with color and curiosity as our little learners explored the world of fruits and vegetables through songs, stories, sensory play, and creative artwork. This theme taught valuable lessons about healthy eating and nature’s bounty.

Moreover, we were honored to host the City’s Waste Management Awareness Campaign onsite. Our learners enjoyed mascot Bingo and participated in engaging, interactive sessions about recycling and environmental care. These are important values that we care deeply about.

As some of our learners prepare to transition to primary school, our educators are supporting them with great care, nurturing the confidence and readiness they need for the journey ahead. We are proud of their resilience and grateful for the ongoing commitment of parents and caregivers.

Excitement is building as final rehearsals continue for our upcoming concert, "The Magic Train Ride," which will take place on this upcoming weekend, November 22. πŸš‚βœ¨The spirit of celebration is in full swing! 🀩

With just a few weeks left in the school year, our staff is working hard. We are finalizing concert preparations, supporting transitions, and planning our year-end festivities. Their dedication is the heart of iThemba. 🫢

Lastly, we would like to thank Woolworths, Premier Bakery, and Shoprite for their weekly donations of food, bread, and soup, as well as all of our sponsors for their ongoing support. πŸ™

We hope you have had a great start to the new month.

The past two weeks at iThemba Pre-School have been filled with curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning. Our little learners explored the fascinating world of wild animals through engaging discussions and hands-on activities that sparked both imagination and discovery. πŸ˜πŸ¦’πŸ¦

Preparations for our upcoming concert, "iThemba's Magic Train Ride," are well underway, with final rehearsals scheduled for November 17. The excitement is growing, and we can’t wait to see our learners shine on stage! πŸ˜‡

One fun highlight was Sunglasses Day last Friday. Our learners arrived wearing their favorite sunglasses, adding sparkle and laughter to the playground – a lighthearted way to celebrate creativity and community spirit. 😎

We were also honored to welcome Michaela, Andreas, and their son, Christian, to our school community. Their visit brought joy, heartfelt interaction, and generous gifts of clothing and toys. We are grateful for their kindness and the wonderful example of Ubuntu they shared with us all. 🫢

Our recent bazaar was another opportunity to celebrate teamwork. Thanks to our staff's incredible efforts, the bazaar was a great success, raising more than expected and reinforcing our commitment to the iThemba mission. Well done, team! πŸ™Œ

As we enter this important stretch before the December break, our children will be taking part in final assessments to help prepare them for Grade R in 2026. πŸ“š

Excitement is also building for our upcoming school concert on 22 November - rehearsals are in full swing, and it’s been wonderful to see the creativity and dedication of our learners shine through. πŸ˜‡
