Food is part of the retreat experiencešŸ“

At New Leaf, we believe what happens around the table matters just as much as what happens on the mat, in conversation, inner-work or by the ocean.

Our retreat meals are colourful, wholesome, balanced and made with intention; from nourishing early morning breakfast snacks and beautiful brunches to snacks and slow dinners shared around the table. This we call the Art of Gathering 🌿

I cook the way I believe food should be made: with whole fresh ingredients, variety, flavour and a whole lot of love. Wellness begins with balance, so our philosophy is centered on that and mindful cooking.

Retreat food shouldn’t feel like an afterthought or something you simply ā€œget through.ā€ It should be something you look forward to. Cause wellness is joy and we want to create happiness around healthy living.

True nourishment is about balance, being cared for and well-fed āœØļø

Close the chapter, and enter the festive season feeling restored. You made it through another year āœØļø

Before the festivities begins, before the plans, the gatherings and the beautiful busyness of December, to take a moment to simply exhale.

A little space to look back on the year with gratitude.
To release what no longer needs to come with you.
To celebrate how far you’ve come.
And to step into the new season feeling lighter, softer and more present.

Our Year-End Bliss Retreat is all things Asian inspired for your gentle pause between everything you’ve carried and everything that’s still to come.

Come close the year beautifully.
Come celebrate YOU.
Come into the festive season with a full heart, not an empty tank.

✨ A little retreat before the celebrations begin.
🌿 A moment to pause.
šŸ¤ A beautiful way to end the year.

Rest before you're exhausted 🌿

You don’t have to wait until your body says enough.
Until your mind is overwhelmed.
Until you have nothing left to give.

Rest isn’t something you earn after giving everyone and everything your best.

It is part of caring for yourself.

Give yourself permission to pause while there is still something left in you.

Take the afternoon off.
Go for the slow walk.
Put your feet up.
Say no to one more thing.
Do absolutely nothing for a while.

You are allowed to rest before you break.

Sometimes the most intentional thing you can do is stop šŸ¤

In need of a holiday 🌓✨

Not the kind of trip where you come home needing another holiday. The kind where you wake up to turquoise water, barefoot mornings, long lunches, slow afternoons, good food, deep conversations and the kind of laughter that only happens when women feel completely free to just… be.

We’re often so focused on where we’re going that we forget to look back at how far we’ve already come. šŸ¤

Think about the woman you were a year ago.

The things she didn’t know yet.
The things she was carrying.
The things she survived quietly.
The moments she thought she wouldn’t get through.

And yet, here you are.

Maybe you’re not where you thought you’d be. Maybe there’s still so much you want to change. But that doesn’t erase the distance you’ve travelled.

Give yourself permission to be proud of the woman who kept going.

Not because everything is perfect.
But because you’re still becoming 🌿

Women are exhausted not just because they’re doing too much… but because they’re 'available for too much.'

Every request.
Every problem.
Every expectation.
Every person who needs something.

And then comes the guilt when you finally say, 'I can’t!'

Ooohh, how I have experience with this and literally need a constant reminder when it comes to boundaries.

Give yourself permission to:
āœØļø set the boundary without having to justify it.

You can be kind and still say no.
You can love someone and still have limits.
You can care deeply and still protect your capacity.

A boundary isn’t rejection. It’s simply knowing where you end and someone else begins. And perhaps one of the most powerful things a woman can learn is this:

āœØļø Disappointing someone else occasionally is healthier than continually abandoning yourself.

This is a hard pill to swallow... I know cause I even offer mindset coaching on this, its not as simple as it sounds.

I remind myself, I'm taking my freedom. I'm protecting the life I'm creating. And I don't need to apologise for it.

Mindfulness 🩵

If Women’s Month asks anything of me, it’s this: what am I doing with the space that was made for me?

For me, part of the answer will always be these young women, who shows up to do the work, eager to change the trajectory of life. I have the absolute privilege of leading these young women and on retreat, I get to take off my fiduciary cap and step into a space I love deeply.... sharing mindfulness, stillness and tools they can carry with them long after the retreat.

I have knowledge, I want to share it. I’ve learnt something that can make their journey the smallest bit easier, so I want to teach it. I have access, experience, connections, so I want to use it to widen the circle. And sometimes that looks as simple as standing in a room, teaching young women how to breathe, be still, become present and understand that caring for themselves matters too. Because some of the most valuable things we have, were never meant to be kept to ourselves.

Here the only transaction is Serving, what I can to the girls, cause once upon a time, I was them. My inner teen is standing in front of a platform of young girls, telling them that if I could do it, so can you!

What we teach young women today, she carries into the woman she becomes āœØļø

Nine years later… I sometimes have to stop and take in what that one decision became.

I didn’t start New Leaf Retreats because I had a perfect business plan. I started it because I knew what it felt like to need a place to breathe.

What began as something I personally needed, grew into spaces where women could rest, move, eat well, laugh loudly, cry safely, be intentional, reconnect with themselves and leave carrying something different.

🩵 Nine years of women choosing themselves.
🩵 Nine years of conversations around tables.
🩵 Nine years of mindful movement & ocean walks.
🩵 Nine years of gratitude, prayer.
🩵 Nine years of nourishing food.
🩵 Nine yeara of hard truths and soft landings.
🩵 Nine years of friendships formed with strangers.
🩵 Nine years of women returning, sometimes before the next retreat was even announced.

And somewhere along the way, New Leaf Retreats became bigger than retreats. It became Community. Purpose. Passion.

A way for me to use everything life had taught me and turn it into something that could pour into others. There have been moments that made me think, How is this my life? Then I remember, But God šŸ™

The heart of New Leaf has always been creating intentional spaces for slow, holistic wellbeing and deeper connection, built from a dream to help people feel healthier and happier, with the belief that health is wealth and rest can be a purposeful reset.

9 years of turning a new leaf, what a privilege it has been to build this space and with all my gratitude, THANK YOU to every women who stepped in our villas for that well-deserved break āœØļø

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to wear 'I’ve got it' like a badge of honour.

We carry the work.
The family.
The emotions.
The plans.
And sometimes, everyone else.

But strength was never meant to mean doing it all alone.

This Women’s Month, may we become women who can say 'I need you' just as confidently as we say 'I’ve got you.'

Ask. Receive. Allow yourself to be supported too 🌿

MAKING ROOM FOR HER | A WOMEN’S DAY GIVEAWAY 🩵

9 August Women’s Day šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦
9 days of making room for another woman.
9 years of New Leaf Retreats.

Women’s Day in South Africa carries a powerful legacy, of women who stood together, used their voices and helped create space for the women who would come after them. One of the ways we honour that legacy is by continuing to make room for one another.

And for the past 9 years, New Leaf has had the privilege of creating spaces where women can come as they are, to reconnect, grow, be nourished, move, breathe, laugh, reflect and simply have room for themselves. So as our 9th birthday approaches, we want to celebrate by doing exactly that:

Making room for HER 🩵

We are giving one woman a spot on our Self-Love Radiance Retreat (12-14 Feb 2027) valued at R6,500.

But there’s a little twist… You cannot nominate yourself. We want you to look at the women around you and choose one.

The woman who has made room for you.
The woman who quietly pours into others.
The woman who encourages, supports, prays, shows up or simply reminds you that you belong.
The woman who NEEDS that well-deserved break.

HOW TO NOMINATE HER:
🌿 Follow New Leaf Retreats | Cape Town Wellness Retreats & c h a n t a l
🌿 Nominee to follow accounts as well
🌿 Tag the woman you are nominating & complete this sentence in the comments.

I’m making room for her because…

That’s it. No most-liked comment. No biggest following. And no need to share someone’s most difficult story to prove that she deserves to be here.

We’ll read every nomination and create a shortlist of entries that capture the heart of women making room for women. From that shortlist, one woman will be randomly selected. The giveaway opens 9pm on 9 August and runs for 9 days, closing on 18 August, New Leaf Retreat’s 9th birthday 🄳

9 years of women walking through our doors. This time, we’re holding the door open for one more.

Only open to South African residents and ladies only retreat!
