Wake up your feet!

There are more nerve endings in your feet than anywhere else in the body...why? So that we can adapt to the floor we walk and run on. Constantly transmitting information back to the brain about the ground beneath us.

The sensory feedback loop protects us from injury and tells the muscles to react and adjust gait to protect bones and joints. Our feet even mould and adapt to the floor underneath them, they become soft and malleable...quickly, reactively!

So why then do we wear thick soled shoes? Why do I hear so many people tell me they went to buy personalised supportive inner soles? Why are we plagued in later life with corns and bunions?

We are a slave to the life we live. We have been sold the idea of comfort and protection, it is part and parcel of the convenient society model. Lazy feet, thick shoes...don’t worry about the work.

In last weeks workshop we woke up the feet. Creating strength and elasticity to build a strong, effective and efficient foundation. But this takes time after years of thick soles, cramped toe shoes.

Find out how to wake up your feet and wake up your body with natural moves! Take the time to reestablish your base and feel the effects ripple through your body.

Many thanks to for letting me use the space and for jumping out of class to take the photo.

Happy Moving!!

MovNat level 1&2 now certified! A great 5 days learning and expanding the MovNat principles. Bringing in new elements of foundational and nutritional movement for our bodies and minds.

MovNat is a system to give freedom back to us. It forms the base of all movement disciplines, whether that be dancing, martial arts, gymnastics, running or strength training. Ensuring correct patterns of movement in both contralateral and ipsilateral forms; creating equal ranges of motion and strength in the body. It’s how we should move naturally and efficiently.

From the ground up we learnt and worked on breathing, ground resting positions, crawling, balancing, lifting, throwing & catching, jumping and climbing. And much more.

My personal journey into movement has evolved through Karate as a teenager, a fairly strict yoga only practice for the last 8 years and now a shift toward a “movement perspective”...what does it mean? It’s my enquiry, my personal journey, learnings and reflection on movement. How I sit and shift while reading my book, running, functional training, handstand practice, locomotion; these are a taste of the perspective.

It’s a journey of inward reflection, where do I want to go, what do I want my practice to look like. And these are questions that must be asked every day. Why do I MOVE? Why do I have a Movement Practice? What does movement mean to you?

MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY!

POP-UP MOVEMENT CLASS AT BAREFOOT MALLORCA 🌿⛰👣🤼‍♀🤸‍♀

Impromptu class from 0930 until 1130 with tea, coffee and chat after.

An infusion of yoga, gymnastics, martial arts and ancestral movement. How should we be able to move and adapt to our surroundings? Develop a deep resting squat, build the foundations of walking from crawling, standing from sitting and sitting in ground resting positions. And working hand balance, co-ordination, spinal awareness and mobility. S

New Years Day swim run! 4.5 miles along slapton sands followed by a couple of chilly but revitalising ocean dips!
Here’s to a healthy, happy and invigorated new year and new decade.
This year I have quit my full time job as an engineer and moved back to England, neither of which I would have given a second thought a few years ago. But we evolve and we change; find and accept new challenges and truths about ourselves. This year and this decade I want to give back to all that I have learnt; through yoga, movement, breath and some of my amazing teachers and inspirations.
This year I have been Alcohol free for 100 days straight, plant based for 6 weeks, walked the Camino De Santiago and gave up both of those ideals.
Im not one for resolutions but I hope to continue on this path of self discovery and self deconstruction to become the best version of me.
Gratitude to all those who have helped me along the path. Much love for 2020 and the next decade. Peace

Run, walk, hike, move, play...commune.

This was not a hard arduous training, we covered some km’s...slow and steady enjoying vistas and caves, climbing and crawling over trees and the opportunity to share the morning together.

Every time we put on our training gear doesn’t have to be about going crazy, sometimes it’s best to slow down and reconnect.

Iv listened to many people talk of the important of getting together to run and train in groups, we push each other on and pick each other up. Maybe we didn’t push each other on to a faster pace, but we picked each other up to BE in nature, to reconnect and enjoy the simpler things.

Go get out in it!
