"RecoMed, South Africa’s leading digital healthcare marketplace, has been internationally recognised together with its partner Eisai Co., Ltd., a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tokyo, at the recent Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) for the pioneering collaboration to enhance healthcare access across Africa.

The recognition was announced during the International Cooperation MOU Signing Ceremony, a highlight of TICAD 9 held in August 2025, celebrating strategic partnerships between Japan and Africa. Among the distinguished guests were Shigeru Ishiba, then prime minister of Japan; Sheraan Amod, founder and CEO of RecoMed; Shohei Kanazawa, vice president and president of the East Asia and Global South Region at Eisai; and four African heads of state.

We are absolutely delighted that RecoMed has been recognised by TIME Magazine as one of three African companies mentioned in their list of the "World's Top HealthTech Companies of 2025".

According to the report, "To determine the world’s top health tech companies in 2025, TIME partnered with Statista to conduct a global analysis of companies delivering the most impactful technologies to improve health. The companies were ranked on three metrics—financial performance, reputation analysis, and online engagement—and classified into categories depending on the service they provide."

It's hugely rewarding to the entire team for our innovative work to be noticed in this way!

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this article being out by the end of October, we are grateful to have been able to play an innovative role along with our partners Bankmed RecoMed & Eisai Co. Ltd. in assisting their consumers in better managing their health. 🏥
