The remarkable Dr. Edith Eger 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝟐 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟕 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, courage and healing.
At 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮, we have been deeply inspired by Dr Eger’s thinking, her literature, and her extraordinary message of resilience and choice.
Her message has been a gift to us and to the rest of the world: 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐭.
Her words have helped shape how we encourage others to rewrite limiting narratives, step into freedom, and become the authors of stronger stories.
𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐫, not only for what she survived, but for how she chose to let it shape a future that changed countless lives. Her voice will continue to guide many for years to come.
Her life beautifully embodied one of her most powerful truths: “𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚.”
Edith endured unimaginable suffering as a Holocaust survivor, carrying memories and losses that could have defined the rest of her life.
But instead of allowing the pain of her past to imprison her, she chose to let it shape her into someone who brought healing, hope, and freedom to others. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. Becoming a world-renowned psychologist and author, she spent her life helping others understand that the past does not have to become a prison sentence. It can become wisdom, strength, compassion and fuel for what comes next.
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝. 𝐖𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰.
Thank you Dr Eger.
