🚨 JUKLYN NEEDS ACTION - AND THE COMMUNITY IS SPEAKING.
Juklyn has become known for high levels of crime, growing fear and residents leaving the area in search of safer communities. But today, stakeholders are coming together to ask an important question:
What can we do differently to change the story of Juklyn?
An important Imbizo meeting brought together the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Reitgart Police Station, government departments, Cornerstone Family and other NGOs and community stakeholders to confront the challenges facing the area.
With SAPS reporting a high number of cases being opened from Juklyn, the concern goes beyond crime itself. The NPA highlighted another critical challenge - many cases are being withdrawn or dropped, making it increasingly difficult for justice to be served.
This cannot be solved by one organisation alone.
🤝 It requires collaboration.
🗣️ It requires community involvement.
⚖️ It requires accountability.
💙 And most importantly, it requires action.
This Imbizo marks an important step towards bringing stakeholders together to identify the root causes, strengthen interventions and work towards creating a safer, stronger Juklyn.
Juklyn deserves more than statistics.
Its people deserve safety.
Its families deserve hope.
And its future deserves action.
