GEMS TANZANITE ONE OPTION DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL DELIVER YOUR BABY AT A PRIVATE HOSPITAL.

The Gems medical aid sent a communication to private hospitals and to its clients that as from 1 January 2026 get will only cover emergency procedures at private hospitals and will not cover cancer treatment at private hospitals.
All non qualifying patients must go and be attended at public hospital.

MY ADVICE: UPGRADE TO OTHER OPTIONS IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GET PREGNANT AND WANT TO DELIVER AT A PRIVATE HOSPITAL.

Can DNA tests be done during pregnancy? Most certainly.

Is it done? Yes it is. But it is improbable any specialist would do a DNA test during pregnancy for the SOLE purpose of establishing paternity because the risks far outweigh the benefit.

Genetic testing is usually done for medical reasons (e.g. to establish genetic medical conditions that might affect the baby during and after pregnancy).
