Recovery journeys can sometimes feel long, but with patience, proper management, and supportive rehabilitation, many pets go on to regain excellent comfort, confidence, and quality of life. ❤️

In this post, we share a little more information about some of the most common conditions we see in our rehabilitative boarding care programme - including CCLR, IVDD, and TPLO surgery recovery. From spinal patients needing careful cage rest to post-operative orthopaedic recoveries rebuilding strength and mobility, every patient’s journey is unique.

We are always honoured to walk alongside both pets and their families during these healing journeys and to celebrate every small milestone together - from the first comfortable steps to the joyful return to normal life.

Our beloved specialist care-giver Jarrod is leaving PAWS today and heading off on a new adventure in Nelspruit. We can’t hold him back anymore, we really tried but he outsmarted us! 💙

We’ll be sure to send you tons and tons of photos of the furry faces you’ll be missing, we only wish we could chat to them about how you’re doing, because Macy will surely miss her personal carriage, Gracie will happily steal your chair (though she’ll be lost without her favourite lap), Prince Raka will be spoiled (of course) and we’ll let you know how he’s doing every wobbly step of the way, Ozzy will miss his swimming buddy, Flippie will be lost without his cushion and masseuse, and all your regular fur babies are in for a very big adjustment, but we promise to take great care of them while you dazzle the people of Nelspruit with your compassion and dedication.

We’re all really going to miss you Jarrod, but hopefully not as much as you’ll miss us ☺️ It’s been amazing to work with someone so committed and passionate. Wishing you nothing but success and happiness, good luck finding co-workers better than us! Wishing you, Kaylee, Joey and the new black kitty fur-baby (We’re siding with Kaylee! You’ve been out-voted) and any future family members (furry or otherwise) all the very best.

Little Livvy is staying with us while she recovers after a being hit by a car, and she has already stolen every heart around her simply by batting her beautiful long eyelashes. With her lovely curls, pretty spots, and the softest cuddles, she is as sweet as they come.

This cheerful little farm girl is adored by her doting parents and her many brothers and sisters back home, and it shows in how friendly and well behaved she is. Although… she did earn herself the “cone of shame” after getting a little too mischievous and trying to pull off her tail bandage the second she got a moment alone.

We are so proud of this precious girl and cannot wait to see her continue to heal and get back to her happy farm adventures.

Many pets live surrounded by love, warm beds, and full food bowls - yet still experience loneliness. As social creatures, dogs and many cats rely on interaction, stimulation, routine, and companionship to feel emotionally secure and fulfilled. 🐾

Without healthy social experiences and emotional stimulation, some pets may develop anxiety, fearfulness, or struggle to interact confidently with other animals.

Mila first charmed us when she boarded with us, and now we have the privilege of seeing her regularly for treatment and physio as well.

This sweet, soft and wonderfully fluffy girl has been bravely working through her recovery with a conservative treatment approach, helping us try to avoid future surgery - and we are so proud of how well she is doing. Watching her grow stronger, brighter and more comfortable has been such a joy for our team.

One of the best parts of Mila’s journey has been seeing her cheerful personality shine through again. She now eagerly greets new people, soaking up attention and brightening up our day with her gentle nature and happy spirit.

We are so proud of you, Mila, and we can’t wait to continue cheering you on every step of the way.

A heartfelt thank you to every speaker and attendee who joined us for our Pet Bereavement Workshop this past Saturday. Your openness, compassion, vulnerability, and willingness to share your stories created a truly meaningful and supportive space for everyone present.

To our wonderful speakers, thank you for sharing your knowledge, guidance, and kindness so generously. And to every person who attended, thank you for trusting us and allowing us to walk alongside you through such a deeply personal journey of love and loss.

We hope the workshop offered comfort, understanding, and reassurance that you are not alone in your grief. More than anything, we hope it helped create connections within a community of people who truly understand the bond we share with our animals and the heartbreak that comes with saying goodbye.

Healing looks different for everyone, but we hope there is gentleness, support, and healing ahead for each of you. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
