What exactly is a chemical peel? 🤎

Chemical peels can be useful for concerns such as uneven skin tone, pigmentation, acne and skin texture — but the treatment needs to be selected carefully for the individual skin.

When treating skin of colour, stronger is not always better.

More burning, irritation or visible peeling does not automatically mean a better result. The aim is to choose an appropriate peel and treatment intensity while minimising unnecessary inflammation.

The goal is results, not irritation. 🤎

Pigmentation treatment should not start with guessing. 🤍

Before choosing a treatment, we need to understand what may be causing the pigmentation, whether the skin is irritated or sensitive, and what products are already being used.

Once we understand the skin, we can build a treatment plan that makes sense for that individual.

Assessment first. Treatment second.

Pigmentation getting worse? Your skin barrier may be part of the problem.

When dark marks appear, it can be tempting to add more acids, scrubs and active ingredients. But using too many strong products at once can irritate the skin — and irritation may make pigmentation look worse, especially in skin of colour.

Sometimes the first step is not a stronger treatment. It’s calming the skin and repairing the barrier first.

Treat the skin first. Then treat the pigment. 🤍
