I have always just trained in my retired running shoes or barefoot. Recently I got given a pair of Crazytrain's functional training shoes. The toe guard is hard and the sole of the shoe is flatter and firmer, but the shoe is still cushioned and very comfortable. I can't tell you the difference it has made to gyming. Things like Bulgarian squats, burpees and barbell spilt lunges. My toes used to get so jammed and sore because the running shoes toe cap was too soft. The flatter sole means I don't have to take my shoes off to deadlift and I am just all round much happier doing gym work in my CrazyTrains
