That tiny piece of food stuck between your child’s teeth may seem harmless, but when food stays trapped in those tight spaces it can encourage plaque build-up and increase the risk of tooth decay and irritated gums.

I always encourage parents to make flossing part of the daily routine, especially once teeth begin touching and a toothbrush can no longer clean properly between them.

A little floss really can make a big difference to keeping little smiles healthy.

Braces or Invisalign — which is the right choice for your child?

As a pediatric dentist, I often remind parents that there isn’t one treatment that suits every smile. Traditional braces are reliable, fixed and effective for many orthodontic concerns, while Invisalign can offer a more discreet, removable option for children and teens who are suitable candidates.

The best choice depends on your child’s age, dental development, alignment needs, lifestyle and, importantly, how well they are likely to manage their treatment.

At PeTeeth Dental Studio, my team and I assess each child individually and guide parents through the options so that we can choose the approach that supports a healthy, confident smile for the future.

If you’re wondering whether braces or Invisalign may be suitable for your child, book a consultation with us and we’ll help you understand the best next step.

Sometimes little ones miss a brush — and that’s okay. What matters most is helping them build a gentle, consistent routine that keeps their teeth clean and healthy.

Brushing twice a day, in the morning and before bed, helps remove plaque and keeps those little smiles feeling fresh. Making brushing fun with songs, a favourite toothbrush or brushing together can also make the routine easier and more enjoyable.

At Pe’Teeth Dental Studio, we’re here to help children feel comfortable, confident and happy about caring for their teeth from an early age.

Book a consultation with Dr Desai and let us support your little one’s growing smile.

Those little gaps in your child’s baby teeth can actually be a very healthy part of their development.

As children grow, spaces between baby teeth often help create room for the larger adult teeth that will eventually come through. Every child develops differently, so the size and position of these gaps can vary from one little smile to the next.

If you’re ever unsure about your child’s tooth spacing, bite or dental development, a dental check-up can give you peace of mind and allow us to monitor how their smile is growing.

At Pe’Teeth Dental Studio, I’m here to guide your child’s dental journey with gentle, age-appropriate care from the very beginning.

Book a consultation with Dr Desai and let’s make sure your little one’s smile is developing just as it should.

A little bottle at bedtime may seem comforting, but allowing your child to fall asleep with milk or juice can leave sugars sitting on those tiny teeth for hours — increasing the risk of early childhood tooth decay.

I always encourage parents to start protecting little smiles from the very first tooth. After the last feed, gently clean or brush your child’s teeth and try to avoid putting them to bed with a bottle containing milk or juice.

Early decay can progress quickly in baby teeth, so if you notice brown spots, discolouration, sensitivity or changes to your child’s teeth, please don’t wait to have them checked.

At Pe’Teeth Dental Studio, we’re here to help parents build healthy dental habits early and make every visit a positive one for your little one.

Little smiles are still growing — and sometimes, the right guidance at the right time can make a meaningful difference.

Myobrace®️ focuses on more than simply straightening teeth. It is designed to support healthy jaw development, encourage better oral habits and help guide developing teeth into improved alignment as your child grows.

This before-and-after journey shows the value of early intervention and growth guidance — working with a child’s natural development rather than waiting for problems to become more established.

If you’ve noticed crowding, crooked teeth, mouth breathing or concerns about your child’s bite, an early assessment can help us understand what may be happening beneath the surface.

Book a consultation with the PeTeeth Dental Studio team to find out whether Myobrace®️ may be suitable for your child.

Every child is different and treatment outcomes vary.

Parents, if you notice a small boil or swelling on your child’s gum, please don’t ignore it. A dental boil, or abscess, is usually a sign that there is an infection around a tooth or in the gum.

You may also notice toothache, pain when chewing, bad breath, an unpleasant taste, facial swelling or even a fever. Even if the bump looks small, the infection underneath may still need treatment.

And to my little patients — if your tooth or gum feels sore, swollen or “funny”, please tell Mom or Dad so we can have a look and help make it feel better.

Early treatment can relieve discomfort, clear the infection and protect your child’s growing smile.

If you spot a gum boil or swelling, bring your little one in for a gentle check-up at PeTeeth Dental Studio.

Tongue ties and lip ties can be easy to miss — but for some little ones, they may affect feeding, swallowing, speech development, oral hygiene and the way the mouth and jaws develop.

This carousel helps parents understand what a tongue tie and lip tie are, some of the signs to look out for, and when it may be worth having your child assessed.
Not every visible tie causes a problem or requires treatment. What matters is how well your child’s tongue and lips are actually functioning.

If you’ve noticed difficulty latching or feeding, clicking during feeds, milk leaking from the mouth, limited tongue movement, difficulty lifting the upper lip, or concerns as your child grows, we’re here to help.

At PeTeeth Dental Studio, we believe early assessment, parent education and gentle care can make a meaningful difference to your child’s oral development.

Concerned about your little one’s tongue or lip movement? Book an assessment with PeTeeth Dental Studio and let’s take a closer look.

The way your child breathes matters more than you may realise.

Nasal breathing helps filter and warm the air, supports restful sleep, encourages relaxed lip posture and plays an important role in healthy oral and facial development.

Persistent mouth breathing, on the other hand, may be linked to dry mouth, chapped lips, snoring, restless sleep, a higher risk of cavities and changes in jaw and facial growth.

An open mouth now and then is normal — but if your child regularly sleeps with their mouth open, snores, seems tired despite sleeping, struggles with focus, or constantly breathes through their mouth, it may be worth having it assessed.

At PeTeeth Dental Studio, we look beyond the teeth to understand how breathing, oral habits and jaw development may be affecting your child’s growing smile.

Noticing signs of mouth breathing? Book a check-up with PeTeeth Dental Studio and let’s take a closer look.

As a pediatric dentist, I often remind parents that teeth grinding during sleep is not always something to simply “wait out.”

A little grinding can happen from time to time, but when it becomes frequent or your child starts waking up with jaw pain, headaches, facial tightness, sensitive teeth or restless sleep, it may be a sign that their teeth, jaw muscles and bite are under repeated pressure while they sleep.

At PeTeeth Dental Studio, we gently assess what may be contributing to the grinding — from tooth wear and bite changes to airway clues, mouth breathing, snoring, stress, screen-time routines and other habits that can affect sleep and oral health.

Early checks are so important because they help us protect little smiles, guide parents with the right advice and prevent small concerns from becoming bigger ones.

If you’ve noticed grinding sounds at night, worn tooth edges, sensitivity or morning discomfort, book a gentle assessment for your child.
