Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, celebrated in September, is an important reminder to prioritise your health and stay informed about prevention and screening.
Almost all cervical cancer cases are linked to persistent infection with high-risk types of HPV (human papillomavirus). The good news? Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer, with HPV vaccination, regular screening and early treatment of precancerous changes playing a vital role in prevention.
South Africa is also working towards the WHO goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem by 2030, with increased focus on HPV vaccination, screening and treatment.
💗 Know your risk. Know your screening options. Talk to your healthcare professional.
At New Lease Wellness, we believe that preventative healthcare is an important part of looking after your health, not something to put off until there is a problem.
