I would love to know if you take supplements or not?

I am a supplements fiend but I am also well aware of supplement fatigue, supplement overwhelm and the exorbitant expense!

So let’s see -
Do you take supplements?
Would you take supplements daily, packaged individually or do you prefer a monthly supply in a bottle?
If your practitioner prescribed personalised supplements would you be more likely to take them?

We want to keep the blood glucose nice and stable after a long fast or even after a shorter fast like 12 hours.

The best options are fats, protein, veggies and high fibre, gluten free starches.

Your break fast meal should also be nutrient dense. So focus on foods rich in fibre (like avo, seeds, nuts, chia), omega 3 (salmon, chia, walnuts, algae oil), and phytonutrients (veggies, turmeric, eggs).

This should really have been posted on Monday as we tend to over indulge over the weekend. Anyway, keep these nuggets of information for the next time you eat too much of the good stuff and drink too much of the hard stuff.

My favourite go-to tip is to drink herbal tea. It works like a light switch, calming your gut- reducing inflammation, nausea and bloating. It’s very powerful.

Drinking loads of water is a no brainer. It helps gut motility and aids in detoxing your body and replenishing hydration.

Massaging your stomach in a clockwise motion is a clever one. Use essential oils to activate digestion further. This just helps to support gut motility, moving digested food along the tract.

Exercise works in the same way- it activates the smooth muscles, enhancing digestion. Sweating is also brilliant to excrete toxins.

And lastly, but definitely not least, use digestive enzymes. So what we find is that over eating, or stress eating, can be associated with bloating. Often times it’s because undigested food left in the gut is fermented causing gas. Offering extra digestive enzymes aids this process of breaking down food preventing the bloating. That, and chewing well.

It seems like everyone is getting sick this month. It’s like a wave of germs has washed through the schools and is now making their way through into our homes.

Has anyone else noticed a peak in sick kids and family members??

It’s totally natural to be picking up bugs here and there but we don’t want to be totally wiped out by them.

How do we become RESILIENT to these germs?

Swipe right -> and see how many of these tips you’re already doing. If there are some that are new to you try to implement them if it can fit into your lifestyle.

Do you want to choose the healthiest fruits and vegetables?

There is a general guideline to abide by to eat the “cleanest” options, that have the lowest concentration of chemical pesticides and nasties.

Avoid the “dirty dozen” and replace with the “clean 15”. If you do want something off the “dirty” list then make sure it’s organic, or make sure you peel them, or soak them in apple cider vinegar.

One of the most potent food derived nutrients is sulforaphane.

It is found in raw cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. The highest content is in broccoli sprouts, which is considered a superfood in my book.

It activates a powerful gene called the NRF2 gene which triggers anti-inflammatory, detoxification and antioxidant processes in the body.

It also activates phase 2 detoxification in the liver which helps to rid your body of excess oestrogen and environmental toxins.

For these reasons we see that it protects DNA and hence promotes longevity.

This is such a powerful little nutrient that should never be underestimated.

I suggest a supplement (Cell-logic or which are excellent) or adding 1 tablespoon broccoli sprouts or 1 cup cruciferous veggies to your daily routine.

The symptoms of chronic inflammation are often subtle and can be easily overlooked.

- Fatigue
- Body pain
- Depression or anxiety
- Gastrointestinal complications such as constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux
- Weight gain or weight loss
- Persistent infections

These symptoms can range from mild to severe and last for several months or even years. When you’re living with chronic inflammation, your body’s inflammatory response can eventually start damaging healthy cells, tissues, and organs. Over time, this can lead to DNA damage, tissue death, and internal scarring.

This is why it is so important to become in tune with your body and to heal inflammation through nutrition and diet.

Seeds are nutritional powerhouses, and when consumed as part of a healthy diet, they have an array of nutritional benefits. Seeds are so versatile, and can be used in a variety of meals.

These are my top picks for seeds to include in your everyday diet:

Chia Seeds are rich in fiber and Omega 3 fats, and are a great addition to smoothies, or even a delicious Chia Pudding.

Flax seeds are the richest source of pant-based omega 3 fatty acids in the world. Add a tablespoon of ground Flax seeds to your breakfast everyday, the benefits include improved digestion, clear skin, lower cholesterol, and so much more!

Pumpkin seeds are a great snack on their own, but can also add a delicious crunch to salads, pasta’s and breads. Not only do they taste good, they are fulled with free-radical scavenging antioxidants, which give your health an additional boost.

Quinoa is a complete protein and a fantastic wheat-free alternative. It’s a great addition to your diet for it’s high fiber content, and it stands in for grains such as rice or oatmeal.

Sunflower seeds are a delicious, sweet and nutty snack. A source of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, these are great to keep for an on-the-go snack.

Inflammation has mostly good intentions - it occurs naturally in the body as part of the body's immune response. When your body is fighting an infection or injury, it sends inflammatory cells to help repair where it's needed. As long as the body stays in control, inflammation is a good thing.

This changes when inflammation lingers and doesn't fully go away. This leads to chronic inflammation which means your body is in a constant state of high alert, and it can trigger some major health issues.

Chronic inflammation can lead to diseases such as cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer's, and heart disease.

The best way to fight chronic inflammation is through your diet. Keep an eye out for our next reel where I will discuss the main triggers of chronic inflammation.
