Physiotherapist Mlu Kunene implemented the FIFA 11+ Injury Prevention Programme with pupils from Inchanga Primary.

He ran through the 30 minute exercise routine with the football players and ended the session with some drills.

Over the season we look forward to seeing these athletes improve their strength and flexibility which will better their game.

What a finish to the World Cup! 🇪🇸

Our team proudly wore our Spain supporter shirts in the build-up to the finals, and we are delighted to say our prediction was spot on – Spain are World Champions!

Ferran Torres summed it up perfectly after the final:
"Today destiny was written... Finals are hard, but we always backed ourselves and tried to show our best football."

Congratulations to Spain on an incredible achievement and to Ferran Torres for the extra-time goal that sealed a memorable victory.

How you walk starts with a stable foundation.

The sacroiliac joint plays an important role in supporting movement. When the joint is not functioning well, it can contribute to lower back pain, pelvic discomfort and changes in the way you walk.

Our latest article by physiotherapist Mlu Kunene explains how sacroiliac joint instability affects movement and how physiotherapy can help improve stability, comfort and function.

Football Fever is everywhere and the team at Debbie Cameron Physiotherapy is taking it to another level!

Physiotherapists Khosi Mkhonto, Ava Sukhoo and Mlu Kuene are currently doing the FIFA 11+ Injury Prevention Programme to help players of all ages and all abilities prevent injuries.

We are excited that Mlu will be introducing the FIFA 11+ Injury Prevention Programme at Inchanga Primary School at the start of Term 3.

Football is a wonderful sport for children, promoting fitness, teamwork and confidence. However, like any sport, injuries can occur. The FIFA 11 programme, developed by FIFA's medical research team, is a simple 10 - 15 minute warm-up routine that has been shown to reduce injury risk while improving performance.

The programme includes exercises that develop:
• Core strength
• Balance
• Muscle control
• Stability
• Safe jumping and landing techniques

By teaching these skills from an early age, we are helping young players enjoy football safely while encouraging lifelong healthy movement habits and a love for sport!

'Coach' Mlu will also be doing drills and having some football fun during his weekly forty-five minute session with the Senior Primary School pupils.

This year Inchanga Primary School is celebrating their 100th anniversary so we are thrilled to be part of this milestone year.

A special part of working at the Comrades Marathon was meeting ultra-runner Aleksandr Sorokin from Lithuania. This European champion looked remarkably comfortable after having just run 85.77km!

Aleksandr is one of the most accomplished ultra-distance runners in the world. His achievements include winning the IAU 24-Hour World Championship, the IAU 24-Hour European Championship, and the legendary Spartathlon. He is also a multiple world record holder in events including 100 km, 100 miles, 12 hours, and 24 hours.

What impressed me most was his humility and friendly nature despite an extraordinary list of achievements. Meeting athletes of this calibre is one of the many privileges of being involved in the Comrades Marathon.

Congratulations to Aleksandr on yet another outstanding performance, and thank you for inspiring runners and sports medicine professionals alike.
