🪷 SENEB WEEKLY FOCUS: NOURISH THE GUT + CALM THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
The gut lining and vagus nerve work as one connected system. This week, we are creating the conditions for better digestion and restoration:
Safety → relaxation → digestion → repair
🥣 WHAT TO EAT
Choose simple, nourishing foods that feel gentle on your body:
🌱 Cooked vegetables, soups and stews
🌱 Oats, chia, flaxseed and other soluble-fibre foods
🌱 Sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots and ripe fruit
🌱 Eggs, fish, chicken, tofu or legumes for protein
🌱 Olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds for healthy fats
🌱 Plain yoghurt, kefir or fermented vegetables—if tolerated
🌱 Black seed (Nigella sativa) sprinkled over food, or black seed oil used in small, label-directed amounts—if tolerated
🌱 Water and calming caffeine-free teas
Increase fibre gradually and notice how your body responds. Reduce alcohol, excess sugar, ultra-processed foods and anything you already know irritates your digestion.
🫁 CONNECT WITH THE VAGUS NERVE
Before each meal:
Sit down and soften your shoulders.
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
Breathe in gently through your nose for four counts.
Breathe out slowly for six counts.
Repeat for five breaths before eating.
The longer, softer exhale helps invite the body into its rest-and-digest state.
Throughout the day:
🪷 Hum, sing or gently sigh
🪷Walk slowly after meals
🪷 Stretch the neck, shoulders and upper body
🪷 Spend a few quiet minutes outside
🪷 Eat without rushing and chew thoroughly
🪷 Connect with someone who makes you feel safe
🪷 Protect your sleep and evening wind-down time
You do not need to force your body to relax. Offer it small, repeated signals of safety.
This week’s reminder:
Slow the breath → soften the body → support the gut.
Track patterns, not perfection. Gentle support. Deep restoration. Lasting balance. 🪷
These are general wellness practices, not treatment for a digestive or medical condition. Anyone using medication—especially warfarin or medicine for blood pressure or blood sugar—should check with a healthcare professional before taking concentrated black seed oil.
