I didn’t expect cancer to become part of my story… but here we are...
I’m a Biokineticist with a MSc. Medicine degree. I help people move better, rehabilitate injuries, get stronger pre- and post operations, improve their physical function after a stroke or heart attack, help with sport performance and ultimately feel better.
I’m a mom, a wife. I’m active. I was training for HYROX…
And then I was diagnosed with melanoma (most fatal and dangerous skin cancer).
After major surgery to remove the melanoma and assess my lymph nodes, pathology showed a small metastatic deposit in one of my lymph nodes, resulting in a Stage III melanoma diagnosis.
And suddenly… everything changes.
The first thing people say is…
“Just rest.”
“Don’t push yourself.”
And yes — rest and recovery are incredibly important during cancer treatment... BUT so is movement.
The right, appropriately prescribed exercise can help manage cancer-related fatigue, maintain muscle strength and physical function, support independence, and improve overall quality of life.
And that’s something I want to help change the conversation around.
So I made a decision…
I’m not stepping away from movement — I’m stepping INTO something bigger.
My practice will continue to offer Biokinetic services as always, but I’m now adding a specialised focus in Exercise Oncology — using evidence-based exercise principles to support people before, during and after cancer treatment.
And now, I’m going to experience this from both sides:
As a Biokineticist, helping others navigate exercise through cancer…
And as a patient, navigating my own treatment journey.
If you’re going through something similar — feeling tired, overwhelmed, or unsure about what exercise is safe for you…
You don’t have to figure it out alone.
Follow along.
I’m taking you through this journey with me. 🤍
