Did you know I only use himalayan salt in my Raw Peanut Butter Twix Bites.
Using Himalayan salt instead of normal iodized salt can be preferable for several reasons:
1. **Mineral Content**: Himalayan salt is often touted for its rich mineral content, containing over 80 trace minerals including calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which are not found in regular table salt.
2. **Less Processed**: Himalayan salt is typically less processed and refined compared to iodized table salt.
3. **Lower Sodium Levels**: While both types of salt have similar sodium levels by weight, the larger crystal size of Himalayan salt means you might use slightly less, potentially reducing overall sodium intake.
4. **No Additives**: Iodized table salt often contains anti-caking agents and other additives, whereas Himalayan salt is usually free from such additives, offering a more natural option.
5. **Flavor and Texture**: Many people prefer the flavor and texture of Himalayan salt, finding it enhances the taste of food better than regular table salt.
However, it’s important to note that iodized salt provides a necessary nutrient—iodine—which is crucial for thyroid function. If you choose Himalayan salt, make sure to get enough iodine from other sources in your diet, such as seafood, dairy, and certain vegetables.
Himalayan salt can be a healthier, more natural alternative to regular iodized salt, but be mindful of your overall iodine intake. 🌿✨
