NIGHT OF 1000 DRAWINGS
This Friday, December 5th, as part of our regular ‘FIRST FRIDAY’S ARTWALK’, the twenty-two galleries in the centre of Hermanus will again be hosting our charity event of the year ‘NIGHT OF A THOUSAND DRAWINGS.’
This exciting annual event raises funds for small, deserving, often overlooked Hermanus based charities.
To achieve this, the galleries must assemble a collection of A5 sized drawings, paintings and sketches. The works come from both amateur and professional artists. On the night each of the galleries will exhibit collections of A5 art works, all selling at R100 each.
In 2024 a total of R116 000.00 was raised and shared between local charities.
NIGHT OF A THOUSAND DRAWINGS has become an important and much anticipated annual event in Hermanus. It draws huge numbers of residents and visitors into the town centre. As galleries, we view it as our opportunity to give back to the community. It allows everyone the chance to enjoy the indulgence of purchasing original artworks, even if modest in terms of size and price, while simultaneously supporting local charities.
