Eggs are good for you!

Eggs are good for you!

One egg has only 75 calories, plus 7 grams of protein along with other vital nutrients. Remember, your body will burn more calories digesting eggs than a carb-heavy breakfast. And the good news is that eggs are no longer on the "no-list" for people concerned about high cholesterol. It's saturated fat not dietary cholesterol we need to be wary of. Every child deserves a future bigger than addiction.

One Less Child at Risk for Addiction starts with prevention, support, and someone who chooses to care.

By listening, guiding, and showing up, we can help young people choose confidence, connection, and hope instead of harmful coping mechanisms.

Consent means actively agreeing to be sexual with someone. It:
βœ…must be freely given
βœ…must be explicit in words or actions
βœ…must be specific to each act
βœ…can be withdrawn at any time

If you live with PTSD or CPTSD, you’ve probably noticed the word β€œtrigger” gets used everywhere now.

Online it’s often joked about or exaggerated.

But in the body, it’s something very different.

A trigger is a nervous system response that happens when your brain detects a pattern that resembles past danger. Not actual danger. Just something close enough to set off the alarm system.

That response is fast, automatic, and protective. It comes from survival circuitry in the brain (including the amygdala and connected threat networks) that prioritizes safety over context.

So even when your logical mind knows you’re fine, your body may react as if you’re not. That's part of what makes it feel so overwhelming.

If this is you:
A trigger is not weakness. It’s your system trying to protect you based on old information.

If you’re supporting someone in that moment:

You cannot logic someone out of a trauma response.
Reasoning lands after safety returns, not before.

What helps instead:

Stay steady.
Your tone, pace, and presence matter more than what you say. Keep things slow and non-threatening.

Give choice, not pressure.
Try: β€œDo you want me here with you, or would space feel better?”

Don’t personalize the reaction.
What you’re seeing is an old alarm system firing. It is not about you.

Grounding, if they want it.
Simple sensory anchors can help bring the nervous system back online:

Name 5 things you can see
Feel your feet on the floor
Notice 3 things you can hear

Remove shame where you can.
After a trigger, people often feel embarrassed or frustrated with themselves. A calm, kind presence helps the nervous system settle faster than correction ever will.

What helps most is not fixing.
It’s safety, patience, and not rushing the body out of something it didn’t choose.
