The Soweto Cannabis Association returns with its third festival on 25 October at Uncle Tom’s Hall, next to the Hector Pieterson Memorial.

They are not.

Those figures come from draft regulations published in February 2026. The Cannabis for Private Purposes Act itself has still not been brought into operation.

Until it is commenced and the regulations are approved by Parliament, there is no fixed legal quantity written into law.

What remains protected is the Constitutional
Court’s 2018 ruling: adults may use, possess and cultivate cannabis in private for personal consumption.
