Excited to be joining The Feel Good Fix on 919 FM tomorrow at 9:40AM for “The Prescription with Doc D” -

We’ll be having an important conversation about Understanding Trauma in Kids and looking at how childhood trauma can impact emotions, behaviour, relationships and a child’s sense of safety.

As someone deeply passionate about trauma awareness and healing, I’m really looking forward to sharing insight, creating awareness and hopefully helping parents and caregivers better understand the children in their lives.

Join our first “I Matter” workshop for grades 6 and 7.

It’s a safe space for kids to express themselves, have meaningful discussions and find a like minded community of individuals where they can share their stories and views.

The workshop will take place on Fourways and incorporate various holistic and age appropriate activities.

Bullying can impact a child’s mental, emotional, and physical health.

Its effects may show up as anxiety, withdrawal, difficulty concentrating, or changes in behaviour.
When we understand the impact, we are better equipped to respond with empathy, prevention, and support.

Mindful Warriors SA focuses on creating solution focused strategies for kids and teens - it’s not about giving them generic advice or therapy. It’s about creating practical, meaningful and effective ways they can improve their life and development.

2026 had started off at full speed and I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself and what I do.

Trauma can create life long triggers, scars and emotional pain that can last years if not decades. The year ahead will focus more on classes, programs and workshops to help address age appropriate trauma challenges that our communities are facing. From bullying, to abuse, from changes in family dynamics to struggling to cope with the world around us.

Bullying leaves invisible bruises that reach far deeper than the skin. A child who once laughed freely may begin to shrink into silence, questioning their worth and safety in a world that suddenly feels cruel. Each harsh word or cruel act chips away at their confidence, turning joy into anxiety and curiosity into fear. School, once a place of learning and play, can start to feel like a battlefield. The echoes of bullying don’t fade easily — they linger in the heart, shaping how that child grows, trusts, and dreams. Healing begins when kindness becomes louder than cruelty and when every child knows they are seen, valued, and safe.
