Your nervous system = your body's communication system ๐Ÿ“ฑ
When it is not working properly, due to an injury or chronic condition, movement becomes harder.

Why does your breathing speed up during exercise ๐Ÿค”

When you start moving, your muscles demand more oxygen to sustain energy production ๐Ÿ”‹ Your body responds almost instantly:
1. Breathing rate increases to pull in more air
2. Heart rate rises to circulate oxygen-rich blood faster
3. Blood is redirected to working muscles with precision

Your respiratory ๐Ÿซ and cardiovascular ๐Ÿซ€ system operate as an integrated unit, not two separate systems.

The fitter you become, the more efficiently these two systems function. A trained individual will achieve the same workload at a lower heart rate and breathing rate than a deconditioned one!

Best exercises for a healthy respiratory systemโ“

Your lungs are trainable, and these three types of exercise prove it:

๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ Swimming - breathing against water resistance directly strengthens your respiratory muscles

๐Ÿšฒ Cycling - steady-state cycling keeps your respiratory rate elevated for sustained periods, training your lungs to work more efficiently over time

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ HIIT - these exercises force rapid transition between high and low intensity, pushing your respiratory system to adapt quickly, which improves lung capacity and cardiovascular efficiency

The diaphragm.

This dome-shaped muscle sits just below your lungs ๐Ÿซ And it never gets a day off ๐Ÿ’ค
Here is how it works:
Inhale / Breath in = the diaphragm contracts and flattens downward, allowing your chest cavity to expand and air to fill the lungs.
Exhale / Breath out = the diaphragm relaxes and rises, shrinking the chest cavity and pushing air out of the lungs

No pump, no motor. Just a muscle doing its job 20 000 times a day ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

The Alveoli = 300 million tiny miracles โœจ๏ธ

You can't see them, but right now they are keeping you alive.
The alveoli are microscopic air sacs at the end of every airway in your lungs. Here is what makes them extraordinary:
- you have approximately 300 million of them
- spread flat they cover an entire tennis court surface
- their walls are just 1 cell thick, thin enough for gases to pass through instantly
- they are wrapped in a network of capillaries so fine, red blood cells pass through in single file

Oxygen in. Carbon Dioxide out. Every second, every day โฐ๏ธ ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ
