Better water management starts with reliable measurement.

A customer needed to monitor thickener overflow water flowing to collection dams, as well as flow between thickeners. Understanding flow rates and total water volumes would help guide decisions about water storage capacity and recovery.

Process Automation supplied and installed a HAWK Sultan Flow system at the thickener weirs to monitor overflow flow rates and provide volume totaliser readings for the customer’s records.

The result:

* Helped address a logistical challenge within the plant
* Better visibility of water flow to the collection dams
* Access to total water volumes for record keeping
* Measurement data to support water storage and recovery planning

At a chrome and PGM operation near Rustenburg, tramp metal entering the material stream had previously caused severe crusher damage.

The plant required an additional layer of protection beyond its existing belt magnet.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

Process Automation - Pty Limited installed an in-line industrial metal detector to complement the belt magnet. The detector identifies metal that passes the primary protection system, enabling intervention before it reaches the crusher.

• Stronger, layered protection for critical crushing equipment
• Reduced risk of costly damage and unplanned downtime
• Improved reliability of the plant’s crusher-protection system
