Another truly meaningful day of being privileged to present at the University of Johannesburg at the “Eagles Fly High Above the Storm” Conference 2026.

I am deeply honoured to have had the opportunity not only to present and represent my professional practice, NVR Counselling Therapy Center and NVR Academy, but also to represent IAC Africa in my capacity as President.

Being invited to serve as a guest speaker was a privilege I do not take lightly. It is a blessing to use my experience, knowledge, and passion to contribute to conversations that inspire growth, resilience, empowerment, and transformation.

Most importantly, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the growth and development of women — to encourage, equip, empower, and remind women that, regardless of the storms they may face, they have the strength and capacity to rise above them and soar.

Eagles do not fear the storm; they rise above it.

Grateful for every opportunity to serve, to share, to learn, and to make a meaningful difference.

✨ Inspiring the Next Generation, One Event at a Time ✨

Yesterday, 15 August 2026, I as the IAC Africa President had the privilege of representing IAC Africa at the Future Young Professionals Growth Co-Lab — and what an inspiring experience it was! 🌍💫

What stood out most was the incredible energy and potential in the young people who were part of the event. The children from the Chayil Foundation, together with students from University of Johannesburg (UJ), brought different experiences, dreams and perspectives into one room — reminding us that when we create spaces for young people to connect, learn and be heard, we are investing in the future.

Seeing the curiosity in the children's eyes and the ambition of the university students was a powerful reminder that every conversation, every opportunity and every event can plant a seed that grows into something much bigger. 🌱

This is what makes the work of IAC Africa so meaningful. We are not simply hosting events — we are creating connections, opening doors, sharing knowledge and helping build a generation of young professionals who believe in their own potential.

One event may seem small, but its impact can reach far beyond the day itself.

Yesterday was another reminder that change happens when we show up, share what we know, empower others and create opportunities — one event at a time. ❤️

I am grateful to have been part of this journey and to have witnessed such promising young minds coming together.

Here’s to continuing to inspire, empower and build Africa’s future leaders. 🌍✨

OUR CHILDREN. THEIR FUTURE. OUR INVESTMENT.

Tomorrow, 100 young people from Chayil Foundation’s care centres and our community partners will have the incredible opportunity to participate in the Future Young Professionals Growth Co-Lab at the University of Johannesburg.

This is so much more than just a day out of the community.

It is a day of learning, exposure, inspiration and possibility — giving our young people the opportunity to step into a university environment, engage with professionals and mentors, develop new skills, broaden their thinking and begin to see just how much is possible for their futures.

At Chayil Foundation, we believe that changing communities starts with investing in our children.

Many of the young people we serve face difficult social and economic circumstances, but their circumstances should never determine the size of their dreams. When we expose them to education, opportunity, positive role models and spaces where they can imagine more for themselves, we help open doors that can change the direction of a life.

We are deeply grateful to the University of Johannesburg, College of Business and Economics, for creating this platform and welcoming our young people.

It is also a tremendous privilege for Nadine van Rensburg, in her capacity as Director of NVR Academy, Director and Counselling Therapist of NVR Counselling Therapy Centre, and President of IAC Africa, to serve and be part of this meaningful collaboration.

Through these platforms, the commitment remains the same: to serve, to empower, to guide and to create pathways of hope and opportunity for the next generation.

Collaborations like these remind us that when organisations, educators, professionals, community leaders and mentors come together with a shared vision, we can create experiences that have the potential to change lives.

To our community partners, leaders, mentors and everyone who continues to help us create opportunities for our children — thank you for investing in the next generation with us.

100 students.
100 dreams.
100 futures filled with possibility.

Tomorrow starts now.

Serve. Hope. Change.

🌍 Monday Word from the IAC Africa President's Desk

Supporting Youth Mental Health in African Communities

Dear Members,

Across Africa, many young people are facing growing mental health challenges due to unemployment, poverty, academic pressure, family conflict, substance abuse, trauma, social media influences, and uncertainty about the future.

As counsellors, we have the privilege and responsibility to make a meaningful difference—even where professional mental health services are limited.

💙 This Week's Counselling Tip: Listen Before You Lead

Many young people don't need immediate solutions—they first need someone who will truly listen.

As counsellors, let's:
✅ Create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space.
✅ Allow young people to express their emotions without interruption.
✅ Validate their feelings by saying, "What you're experiencing sounds very difficult."
✅ Avoid minimizing their struggles or comparing them to others.

🌱 Encourage Healthy Coping Skills

Help young people build resilience by encouraging them to:
• Maintain a regular sleep routine.
• Stay physically active and spend time outdoors.
• Limit excessive social media use.
• Build supportive relationships with trusted family members, friends, and mentors.
• Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, mindfulness, or journaling.

⚠️ Recognise the Warning Signs

Be alert for:
• Persistent sadness or hopelessness.
• Withdrawal from family, friends, or school.
• Increased substance use.
• Sudden changes in behaviour or mood.
• Talking about death, su***de, or feeling like a burden.

If these warning signs are present, encourage an immediate referral to appropriate mental health services or emergency support where available.

🤝 Strengthen Community Support

Counselling doesn't happen only in the office. Partner with parents, schools, faith communities, youth leaders, and community organisations to create environments where young people feel heard, valued, and supported.

✨ Remember: Small conversations can save lives. Every compassionate interaction helps build mentally healthier communities.

Together through IAC Africa, we are building a network of professional counsellors committed to making quality counselling accessible to every community across Africa.

Together, we stand to ensure that no one has to face life's challenges alone.

Wishing our entire IAC Africa Family a blessed and productive week ahead.

Warm regards,

Nadine van Rensburg
