The knee is one of the most complex (and most important) joints in the body.
For athletes, there are a few key parts to know:
✔️ Ligaments (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL) - keeps the knee stable during sudden stops, twists, and turns.
✔️ Meniscus (cartilage cushions) - absorbs shock every time you land, jump, or sprint.
✔️ Patellar tendon - connects your kneecap to your shinbone, working hard in explosive movements.
These structures take the most stress in sport, especially in high-impact, twisting, and jumping activities.
That’s why knee injuries are so common in athletes and why proper conditioning, technique, and rest are key to protecting them.
