Because your strength is your power. 🕯️✨
We are tired. Tired of being told to “travel in groups,” to “avoid quiet areas,” or to “share our live location” while being expected to navigate a reality where our safety remains constantly threatened. The recent tragic events in Kempton Park and across Gauteng are a painful, devastating reminder that safety is a basic human right, not a luxury women must earn through constant vigilance.
At Cosmic Haven, we believe in building real, practical solutions. Seeking the knowledge and tools to protect yourself is not aggression, it is a rational, empowering response to taking your safety and peace of mind into your own hands.
Join us for a Self-Defence & Personal Safety Gear Demo aimed at educating, equipping, and empowering women in our community with practical, non-lethal self-defence knowledge.
🗓️ Date: Sunday, 4th October

Nine women’s bodies have been found in and around Kempton Park since July. Silence is no longer an option, and shocked emojis on news articles won’t end this crisis.

To the men who consider themselves ethical: we are not asking you to “protect” us like property. We are asking you to hold the men around you accountable. Interrupting this culture starts when you speak up against violent jokes, excuses for abuse, or dangerous behavior in your own circles.

Real change requires concrete action. That’s why Cosmic Haven is hosting a Men’s Dialogue Session:

🗓 Date: 18 October

💬 What it entails: Built with facilitators from our own community, this dialogue is an open, honest space dedicated to tackling the hard conversations—exploring healthy masculinity, practical accountability, pushing for consent-based education, and unlearning harmful behaviors.

How you can step up:

Attend the dialogue on 18 October and bring another man with you—a friend, brother, or son.

Start the uncomfortable conversations at home.

Push for systemic change and consent-focused education in our schools.

Men need to change—now, not eventually.

👇 Comment below: What is ONE concrete action you will take this week to challenge and interrupt this culture?

If you are experiencing or witnessing violence, call the GBV Command Centre at 0800 150 150 or 0800 428 428.

Eight women. Nine weeks. A question this country keeps refusing to answer.

Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, 38, went for an evening run and never came home. She is one of eight women found dead in and around Kempton Park since July.

We are tired of being told to travel in groups, avoid quiet areas, share our live location. We did all of that. Safety is a basic human right, not a luxury we earn through daily vigilance.

Let’s be direct: we are not calling for violence. We are calling for women’s right to real, practical means of defending our own lives, pepper spray, tasers, alarms, and proper self-defence training. When the state narrows our means of protecting ourselves, what message is it sending?

These women did not die from carelessness. They died at the hands of people who believed they had the right to harm, abuse, and kill. That entitlement was produced, and it can be unmade.

If you are a woman reading this: you are not overreacting, and you are not alone.

Join us. Our self-defence classes start 4 October, weekly, free of cost and free of judgement. Comment “CLASSES” and we’ll send you the details, or tag a woman who needs to see this.

Cosmic Haven extends our deepest condolences to the families of all who have lost their lives to the senseless violence including those who remain unnamed and unknown.

If you are experiencing violence right now: GBV Command Centre, 0800 150 150 / 0800 428 428.
