Simoné recently completed both her online MBA and Diploma in Human Resource Management, further strengthening her capabilities in business leadership, organizational development, and healthcare operations. Dr. PG Marais is a dedicated and highly skilled anaesthetist who recently joined the Royal Anaesthesia Group as its newest DA Anaesthetist. With a strong background in critical care medicine, anaesthesiology, and emergency patient management, Dr. Marais has built a reputation for remaining exceptionally calm, focused, and decisive in high-pressure clinical environments where precision and rapid decision-making are essential.

Dr. Marais obtained his MBChB from the University of the Free State and later completed his Diploma in Anaesthesiology through the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. His extensive experience includes frontline service during the COVID-19 pandemic, senior critical care management, anaesthetic practice across multiple surgical disciplines, and emergency aeromedical transport of critically ill patients throughout South Africa.

A particular area of expertise for Dr. Marais is advanced airway management. His proficiency in difficult airway management, various intubation techniques, procedural sedation, and the care of critically ill adult, paediatric, and neonatal patients has made him a trusted clinician in both theatre and emergency settings. Whether managing complex trauma cases, ventilated ICU patients, or high-acuity transfers, he is known for maintaining composure under extreme pressure while delivering safe, patient-centred care.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Marais is passionate about teaching, multidisciplinary collaboration, and advancing critical thinking within healthcare teams. Dr. Ròlandi Crous
Diplomate Anaesthetist | Critical Care & Sedation Specialist

Dr. Ròlandi Crous is an experienced diplomate anaesthetist and critical care practitioner, currently serving in private practice across several leading hospitals in Kimberley. Her career spans over a decade in both public and private healthcare sectors, with deep expertise in anesthesia for a wide range of surgical disciplines, intensive care management, and pain and sedation therapy.

After obtaining her MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch in 2013, Dr. Crous completed her internship and community service in the Eastern Cape, rotating through major clinical departments with a strong focus on anesthetics. She earned her Diploma in Anaesthesia (SA) in 2018 and recently expanded her credentials with a postgraduate certificate in Pain and Sedation from the University of the Free State.

Her professional experience includes roles in anesthetic and ICU departments at prominent institutions such as Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital and the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex, where she was actively involved in academic teaching, intern supervision, and the care of critically ill patients, including those with COVID-19.

Currently, Dr. Crous provides anaesthetic services under supervision of specialist anaesthetists at the Royal Anaesthesia Group. Her practice covers general surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, maxillofacial and dental procedures, vascular surgery, and cardiology sedation.

Dr. Ingersöhl Gisela Wagenaar, MBChB, Dip Anaes (CMSA)
GP Anaesthetist

Dr. Ingersöhl Wagenaar is a passionate and dedicated medical doctor with a growing footprint in the field of anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine. With clinical experience across a wide range of surgical disciplines, she currently serves as a GP Anaesthetist with Royal Anaesthesia Group, where she provides anaesthetic care under the supervision of specialist anaesthetists.

After obtaining her MBChB from Stellenbosch University in 2019, Dr. Wagenaar completed her internship at RK Khan Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, where she also served as an intern group representative. She later earned her Diploma in Anaesthetics from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2023. Her academic foundation is strengthened by various certifications in advanced life support, paediatrics, ECG interpretation, and emergency point-of-care ultrasound.

Her clinical scope includes anaesthetic support for:

General, orthopaedic, and vascular surgeries

Obstetrics and gynaecology

Neurosurgery, ENT, and ophthalmology

Maxillofacial and plastic surgery

MRI and ABR sedation

Dr. Dhinesh Singh

With over three decades of experience in anaesthesiology, Dr. Dhinesh Singh is a highly respected medical professional known for his clinical precision, dedication to patient safety, and leadership within the anaesthetic community.

Dr. Singh graduated with an MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1993. He went on to earn a Diploma in Anaesthesia in 2001 and became a Fellow of the College of Anaesthesiologists of South Africa in 2006. His clinical expertise is underscored by a focused interest in anaesthesia for spinal surgery and advanced airway management—areas in which he has contributed significantly through both practice and presentation.

His professional affiliations include registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), as well as prior leadership roles within the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists (SASA), including serving as CWB Secretary, Chairman, and SASA Councillor. Dr. Singh has also held an executive position with Southern Anaesthetics Associates, overseeing the Continuing Medical Education portfolio.

Dr. Singh has presented extensively on critical topics in anaesthesiology, including post-operative cognitive dysfunction, fibre-optic intubation techniques, and complications in spinal surgery. His clinical excellence was formally acknowledged when he was named the University of Cape Town's Best Registrar in ICU in 2003.

Outside the operating theatre, Dr. Singh maintains a dynamic lifestyle with interests spanning cycling, tennis, golf, and running. He is also an avid traveller, diver, cook, and enthusiast of both design and motoring.

Dr Philip Anderson
Founder & Lead Clinician, Royal Anaesthesia Group

Dr Philip Anderson is a distinguished consultant anaesthetist and the visionary founder of the Royal Anaesthesia Group. As previous Head of Anaesthesia at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital—Northern Cape’s only tertiary referral centre—Dr Anderson has been instrumental in advancing anaesthetic practice, fostering clinical excellence, and shaping the future of the profession in South Africa and beyond.

With over two decades of experience in Europe and Africa, Dr Anderson trained through the Royal college of Anaesthesia in the United Kingdom and holds both a Diploma in Anaesthetics from the College of Medicine of South Africa and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthesia in London. He has served as a consultant anaesthetist since 2013 and has led anaesthetic services at the Kimberley Hospital Complex from 2015 to 2024.

Deeply committed to education and mentorship, Dr Anderson plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation of anaesthetists. He is an examiner for both the Diploma in Anaesthesia and the Primary Anaesthetic Exam through the College of Medicine of South Africa, and he lectures at the University of the Free State and is an honourary lecturer at the University of Cape Town.

Dr Anderson’s contributions extend far beyond the hospital walls. He chaired the South African Society of Anaesthesia (Central South Africa Branch) and currently sits on its National Council. He has led provincial outreach programs, upgraded rural hospital theatre complexes, and consistently supported anaesthetic care in underserved areas. His service ethos was evident in his volunteer work during the Pakistan Earthquake relief efforts and as a frontline safety officer during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Respected for both his clinical acumen and moral integrity, Dr Anderson is a leading figure in anaesthesia, continually giving back through education, leadership, and compassionate service
