In September, Inclusive Solutions was proud to be part of the Western Cape Education Department very first Inclusion Festival.

As part of the festival, we were delighted to donate a sensory products prize pack, designed to support focus & concentration, helping learners engage, participate and succeed in the classroom.

The prize was handed over to Patricia Arendse, WC Therapy Coordinator, and we were thrilled to see it go to Lorraine Hanekom, a teacher from Dorothea School!

🎉Congratulations, Lorraine! We hope these resources become valuable tools in your classroom and support the wonderful work you are already doing with your learners.

As we enter this speech by a father of 5, who has MND, shows in a profound way, the value of being able to communicate. We are shown the humour, emotions and the personality of this man as he expresses himself - in his own words. Imagine how much poorer we would be, as his audience, with only his silence? 🔇

Communication is one of our . Augmentative and Alternative Communication should allow people to say what they want to, when they want to. Even if that includes a few swear words 🎙️🫣 💙

❓How are you helping a switch user develop their skills?

Our favourite way to teach switch skills is using the games and activities from .

Targeting and timing skills help learners interact with the right object at the right moment. This may involve

*selecting a target in a fixed place
*waiting for a moving object
*or responding when something appears in a different position.

These skills build on earlier 'attention and timing' work and help learners develop more accurate, purposeful interaction.
