Dysmenorrhea is most commonly known as menstrual cramps. It is commonly associated with throbbing or cramping pains in the lower abdomen. A large number of women have menstrual cramps right before and during their menstruation period.

For some women, it could be nothing more than an annoyance. For others, it can be a serious problem that intervenes with their daily activities when they are menstruating. The pain can be spasms in the abdominal area that leads to the thighs. The pain could be dull and constant for some women while for others it can have intense spasms. This varies from person to person and differs with every period.

Dandelion has to my favourite herb. It has been one of the most useful plants that I have come across. The Potters Cyclopedia of Botanical Drugs and Preparations states that it was the most used herb by physicians before pharmaceuticals became the major modality of treatment.

Along with aiding the kidneys, liver and pancreas it is also used as a tonic to help strengthen the body and keep it strong.

It also has a valuable amount of nutrients, as it is high in Iron, Magnesium, Potassium (up to 4.5%), Vitamin: A, B, C and D along with a source of sesquiterpene lactones which are used to prevent neurodegeneration and migraines.

If that is not enough to convince you to bring dandelion into your life, the root is used as a coffee substitute which tastes absolutely divine!
