FAQ's...
There are many frequent questions we get asked, so I thought it would be good to cover some of them here again, and make it easier for new clients.
Q: How much for a tattoo?
A: That depends... what are you wanting? We don't charge by the hour, so prices are set according to size, placement and detail required.
Q: I don't have a design, but I have an idea... Can you help?
A: Yes, of course. Again, we need size and placement, but it's always better to have something customized for you rather than the first design you find on a Google search.
Q: It's my first one, does it hurt?
A: Tattoo pain is subjective. Certain places are more sensitive than others. Rest assured that we will guide you properly through the process, and work as gently as possible. In most cases it's more a mild irritation than pain, unless you're sitting for a larger piece.
Come prepared, mentally and physically. Get a good night's rest beforehand, don't drink (alcohol) the night before, and don't stress about getting your tattoo. Have a snack or drink on hand to keep your sugar levels balanced while you're getting it done.
Q: How long does it take?
A: It takes as long as necessary, and will be done when it's done. Some people take ink quicker than others, and some placements require slower and more gentle working. Large projects (eg: Full Sleeves) require multiple sessions, with each session being multiple hours, and then time in between for healing (usually a minimum of two weeks).
Q: Can I be allergic to tattoo ink?
A: Yes, allergies happen. Although not common, it can occur, usually with colour inks. I have never seen an allergic reaction to black ink, the reactions I have seen with black ink have been from improper aftercare, or dodgy hygiene practices during the process. With colour ink, red is usually the culprit, although I have had clients that have reacted to blue before. If a reaction occurs, treat it with a mild antiseptic cream to prevent any infection. Any ink loss that may occur can be repaired afterwards.
Q: How do I take care of my new tattoo?
A: Depending on the size and placement, different levels of aftercare are required. Small line work and flash tattoos heal quicker than large pieces with lots of detail and shading. Follow the aftercare instructions given by your artist.
Avoid sun exposure and prolonged water exposure during healing. No beaches and swimming.
I think that covers most of it... but if anybody has further questions just drop them into the comments below.
