Cervical Cancer: Prevention Starts with Screening

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women globally, with around 660,000 new cases and around 350,000 deaths (Source: World Health Organisation)

It is a slow-growing cancer, taking years to develop into Cervical Cancer and spread to other parts of the body such as the bladder, intestines, lungs, and liver.

It starts as a pre-cancerous condition in the woman’s cervix called Dysplasia, caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. There are no immediate symptoms, but it can be found with regular Pap smear tests performed by a Gynaecologist and is 100% treatable if detected early.
