🚨 Could you be at risk of a stroke and not know it?

Your blood pressure, heart rhythm and artery health can provide important clues about your stroke risk. In fact, atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart rhythm condition, can increase your risk of an ischaemic stroke by up to five times.

👉 For October 2026, for just R75, participating The Local Choice Pharmacies are partnering up with Rossmax to screen for stroke risk. Come in for a stroke assessment today.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

We're quick to notice a cough or a fever, but the signs that our minds need care are much easier to miss: trouble sleeping, feeling withdrawn, constant exhaustion, or losing interest in the things you usually enjoy.

Life is busy, and it's easy to push through and tell yourself that you're just tired. But if these feelings have been hanging around for a while, they deserve your attention – just like any other symptom would. 🧠🫶

👉 If this sounds like you or someone you love, please reach out. Talk to someone you trust, chat to your pharmacist or doctor, or call SADAG's 24-hour helpline toll-free on 0800 567 567. You don't have to carry it alone.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a reminder for all of us to slow down and check in with our bodies. 🎗️

Breast cancer is easier to treat when it's found early, and early detection starts with knowing what's normal for you. When you know your body, you're far more likely to notice when something changes.

Over the coming weeks, look out for our step-by-step self-check guide, the myths that are worth forgetting and a few ways to support a loved one who is going through treatment. Share this with the women in your life, and remember that you're always welcome to pop in with your questions. 🧡

This month, we’ve celebrated the familiar faces who know your name, your family, your usuals... and sometimes even what you need before you’ve asked.

Although Pharmacy Month may be coming to an end, the care certainly isn’t. To every pharmacist who shows up for their neighbourhood every day, and to every customer who trusts them to be part of their family’s health: thank you.

Here’s to the people who make a local pharmacy feel truly local. We are proudly local and here for you. 🧡

You might walk in with a question about your own health. Or you might be worried about your child, your parent or someone else you love.

Having a pharmacist who takes the time to listen can make that moment feel a little less overwhelming. Someone who remembers you, checks the details and explains things in a way you understand. 🧡

Some advice gets passed down through generations. Some questions are best taken to your pharmacist. We think there’s room for both in a caring neighbourhood. 🫶

However your family celebrates, we hope your Heritage Day is full of the people and traditions that feel like home. 🇿🇦💚
