Living Creatively with Histamine Intolerance & Multiple Food Allergies
Living with histamine intolerance and multiple food sensitivities means my food world is small — but it’s also made me more creative than ever.
Because of my allergies and sensitivities to gluten, sulfur, turmeric, high-histamine foods, and high-oxalate foods, my diet is limited to a small group of ingredients I can trust.
My safe staples include:
• Carrots
• Baby marrow
• Butternut
• Apples (peeled)
• Blueberries
• Nectarines
• Rice
• Potatoes
• Fresh fish
• Fresh chicken
• Fresh herbs
• Seeds: h**p, chia & flax
Finding balance, flavour, and comfort with so few choices can be challenging — but it pushes me to think differently about food.
One of my favourite simple breakfasts:
A bowl of plain boiled basmati or jasmine rice, topped with a handful of fresh blueberries, peeled and finely diced Granny Smith apple, a sprinkle of mixed h**p–chia–flax seeds, and just a touch of lactose-free milk.
Pure, gentle, and nourishing — perfect for a sensitive system.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to diversify my dietary options?
