🎤🎶 What a Treat for Our Residents! 🎶🎤

There was plenty of singing, laughter, and reminiscing when Philip Moolman visited Huis Zonnekus for a special morning of entertainment, proudly sponsored by AVBOB South Africa.

From Afrikaans and English golden oldies to memories of the days when families gathered around the radio to listen to news, sports, and their favourite programmes, Philip had everyone travelling down memory lane. 📻✨

Known for his roles in 7de Laan, Binnelanders, and Getroud met Rugby, Philip had our residents captivated from start to finish. There were smiles, toe-tapping, plenty of sing-alongs, and more than a few stories shared about the "good old days"! 😊

A huge thank you to AVBOB for making this memorable visit possible and to Philip for bringing so much joy and nostalgia to our Home. ❤️

☕🎨 A Special Thank You to Milnerton Pre-Primary School! 🎨☕

We were recently treated to a wonderful surprise visit from Teacher Robyn Retter, who delivered these beautiful hand-painted mugs created by the Grade R learners (Blue Class - Age 4-5) of Milnerton Pre-Primary School.

Each mug is unique and reflects the creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm of its young artist. Since the mugs were donated for us to use at our discretion, our Head of Care decided they would make the perfect gift for our hardworking staff—and they were absolutely delighted to receive them! 😊

A sincere thank you to Mrs Retter, Principle Lesley Mitchell, and especially the learners for this thoughtful outreach. Your artwork is now brightening tea and coffee breaks throughout Huis Zonnekus, bringing smiles with every cup. ❤️

❤️ What an Amazing Couple – Tony and Anita Vasconselos ❤️

Recently, Tony and Anita visited their dear mother at Huis Zonnekus all the way from New Zealand. During their two-week stay, they made the most of every opportunity to spend precious time with her. Despite Cape Town's cold and rainy winter weather, nothing kept them away. ☔❤️

What touched us even more was the way they extended their love and appreciation to the entire Huis Zonnekus family. Their generous donation of pillows and pillowcases, toothpaste, toothbrushes, fleecy blankets, a monetary contribution, and delicious treats for both residents and staff was received with immense gratitude.

Their kindness reminded us that caring extends far beyond family and that small acts of generosity can make a big difference in the lives of others.

We know that saying goodbye and returning home to New Zealand could not have been easy, but we hope they left with peace of mind knowing that their mother is cared for with love, dignity, and respect.

From all of us at Huis Zonnekus, thank you, Tony and Anita, for your generosity, warmth, and kindness. We wish you safe travels and every blessing until your next visit. 🌍✈️❤️

🧶❤️ Winter warmth has arrived at Huis Zonnekus! ❤️🧶

A big thank you to Mae and Justyna from the Milnerton Library Knitting Club for visiting us once again with their beautiful donation of handmade blankets, beanies, scarves, and bed socks. 🧣🧦

Every year, this special group blesses our residents with lovingly knitted items, and as the colder weather settles in, these gifts are appreciated more than ever. ❄️

Thank you for the time, care, and love stitched into every item. Your kindness keeps both hearts and hands warm! ❤️

💙🎉 A Big Thank You to the Curro Century City Community! 🎉💙

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Teacher Kirsten Morley, the Grade 2 learners of Curro Century City, their teachers, and families for their generous donation of toiletries and essential items through their "Two the Rescue" initiative.

As part of this special project, the learners chose to support Huis Zonnekus by collecting much-needed toiletries for our residents. What a wonderful way to learn about kindness, compassion, and helping others! 🌟

These donations will go a long way in supporting the daily needs of our residents and are deeply appreciated by everyone at Huis Zonnekus.

Thank you to every learner, parent, and teacher who contributed. We are so proud of what these young hearts have accomplished and grateful that they chose our residents as the recipients of their kindness. ❤️

🥣❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You to Blouberg International School! ❤️🥣

We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Blouberg International School for including Huis Zonnekus as a beneficiary of their wonderful "Soup-It-Up" Charity Drive.

We are incredibly proud of what was accomplished through this initiative. It was truly inspiring to see teachers, learners, parents, and members of the broader community come together with a common purpose — making a difference in the lives of others. The teamwork, enthusiasm, and generosity displayed throughout the project are a wonderful reflection of the values being nurtured within the school community.

Thanks to these collective efforts, Huis Zonnekus was blessed to receive 42 beautifully prepared soup jars, which will be greatly appreciated by our residents during the colder winter months. 🥣❄️

As a non-profit organisation caring for elderly residents, we rely heavily on the support of caring individuals, schools, businesses, and community groups. Gestures such as these not only help meet practical needs but also remind our residents that they are remembered, valued, and loved by the community around them.

To the Principle Mr Anthony van Rensburg, every teacher, learner, parent, and supporter who contributed to this initiative — thank you. Your kindness, compassion, and willingness to serve others have made a meaningful difference.

We are honoured to have been part of this incredible project and congratulate Blouberg International School on the success of their Soup-It-Up Charity Drive. What a wonderful example of community spirit in action! 🌟
