I've often wondered if we choose a painting... or if, somehow, it chooses us.
There are paintings that ask us to pause.

Others seem to fill a room with light.
Some become quiet companions, gently changing with the seasons, revealing something different every time we pass them.

Perhaps that's the beautiful mystery of original art.
It asks nothing of us except that we notice.

Every painting I create begins as a conversation with colour, texture and imagination. It grows slowly, layer upon layer, until it feels ready to continue its story somewhere beyond my studio.

I always trust that the right piece will find the right home. Perhaps one is waiting for you.

I've never believed that inspiration arrives on command.
It appears quietly.
In the curve of a leaf.
The changing light on an old wall.
The silence between one thought and the next.
These are the moments I carry into my studio.
Before the first brushstroke, there is simply listening.

Sometimes a painting begins with a colour that refuses to leave me. Other times it's a feeling I can't quite put into words until it finds its place on the canvas.
I've learnt not to rush that conversation.

The work always knows where it wants to go.
I'm simply grateful to be part of the unfolding.

Some mornings begin with certainty.

Others begin with a blank page.
I've come to treasure the blank page.

There is something beautifully honest about not knowing exactly what will emerge. A brush in my hand, a few quiet moments, and the gentle invitation to simply begin.

Perhaps creativity has always been less about making something and more about paying attention.

Paying attention to the light as it shifts across the room.
To the stories waiting patiently beneath the surface.
To those quiet moments that ask to be noticed before they disappear.
The world encourages us to hurry towards certainty.

Creativity invites us to linger in wonder.
And more often than not, that is where joy quietly finds us.

Even on holiday, art has a way of finding me. Creativity is everywhere if we take the time to look. 🎨✨
