🐾 The Silent Killer: Spirocercosis in Dogs 🐾

Did you know that a potentially deadly disease can affect dogs with little to no warning signs?

What is Spirocercosis?
Spirocercosis is a serious disease caused by a parasitic roundworm called Spirocerca lupi. This parasite can cause significant damage as it migrates through the body and forms nodules in the oesophagus.

⚠️ Why is it called the "Silent Killer"?
In some cases, dogs may show no obvious signs of illness, and sudden death can occur without warning.

Watch for these symptoms:
• Retching
• Vomiting
• Excessive drooling
• Weight loss
• Difficulty swallowing

These symptoms are often non-specific and may be easily overlooked. In approximately 25% of cases, the oesophageal nodules can become cancerous over time, making early detection and prevention especially important.
