Anxiety can make a feared possibility feel like a present reality.
The mind imagines the worst, the body responds as though it is already happening, and those physical sensations seem to confirm that there must be danger. This is how we can become caught in an anxiety loop.
Sometimes we need to interrupt that loop through the body before we can think clearly again. Slow the breath. Move. Change your surroundings. Notice what is actually around you. Then gently begin separating what you know from what fear is predicting.
This is not about pretending that difficult things never happen, or forcing yourself to “think positively.” It is about showing your nervous system that you do not need to live through every possible outcome in advance. You can meet the next real moment when it arrives.
Every time you notice the pattern and choose a steadier response, you are practising another way. With time and repetition, you may notice anxiety sooner, believe the frightening thoughts a little less and find your way back to yourself more gently.
Save this for a moment when your thoughts feel louder than the present. And please remember: if anxiety is persistent, overwhelming or interfering with daily life, professional mental-health support can be an important part of caring for yourself. 🤍
