βš–οΈ Carrying Everything on One Side

Consistently carrying handbags, laptop bags, or children on the same side creates uneven load patterns through the spine and hips. Over time, this may contribute to asymmetrical muscle development and discomfort.

Biokinetics assesses load management and improves lateral stability to help the body tolerate everyday asymmetrical demands more effectively.

β€œClumsiness” Isn’t Always Just a Phase

Some children are labelled as β€œclumsy” - tripping often, struggling with coordination, avoiding sport, or tiring quickly. In many cases, this reflects delayed motor control, reduced balance, or poor movement coordination rather than personality or effort.

Biokinetics assesses movement patterns and coordination development, helping children build balance, strength, and confidence in their bodies. Early support can change how a child experiences physical activity long-term.

Happy Youth Day!

Not every ache is a major problem, but some patterns are worth taking seriously.

These are 3 red flags I would not ignore when it comes to pain or training-related issues. Early assessment can make a big difference, especially when symptoms are escalating or affecting the way you move.

πŸ’‘ The crackling or clicking sound in your knees when you stand up is often called crepitus.

In many cases, it’s completely harmless. It's usually caused by gas bubbles shifting within the joint, tendons moving over structures, or pressure changes inside the knee as it moves.

However, when clicking is paired with pain, stiffness, swelling, or instability, it may indicate reduced joint control, muscle imbalance, or increased stress through the knee. Biokinetics focuses on improving the strength and movement patterns surrounding the joint so the body manages load more efficiently.

Behind every assessment, programme, and progress session is a team that cares about how people move through life.

We believe in understanding the body, supporting recovery, building confidence, and helping each person move in a way that works for them.

Grateful for the people behind the practice and for every client who trusts us with their movement journey πŸ’

If your heels keep lifting in a squat, your calves always feel tight, or stairs feel stiffer than they should, your ankles may be lacking mobility.
πŸ‘‰ This test is a starting point, not a diagnosis, but it is a good reminder that small restrictions can have a big knock-on effect.

When studying to become a Biokineticist, students spend years focused on 𝘩𝘰𝘸 disease changes movement.

For example, in diabetes-related nerve changes, walking can shift from a smooth heel-to-toe pattern to shorter steps with less push-off through the toes.
πŸ‘‰ And because the body works as a chain, if the foot is not pushing off properly, the body may start compensating through the ankle, knee, hip, or lower back to keep moving βš–οΈ

This is known as the kinetic chain, and it is a crucial part of what Biokineticists are trained to understand πŸŽ“
It's not just β€œcan you move?” but how your body is producing that movement, and what it is compensating for.

When your body moves freely and with fewer limitations, more of life becomes accessible.
It is being able to walk further, play with your kids, carry groceries, climb stairs, get through your day, return to sport, or simply trust your body again.

That is why movement can be medicine.

Biokinetics helps you build strength, mobility, balance, and confidence through exercise that is specific to your body and your goals.

🌏 International Multiple Sclerosis month 🌏
πŸ‘‰ Around 2.9 million people worldwide are living with multiple sclerosis, and symptoms can affect each person differently.

For some, MS may mean fatigue, weakness, balance changes, stiffness, or finding that something as ordinary as standing long enough to cook a meal feels different from one day to the next.

Biokinetics supports people with MS through individualised exercise therapy.
This may include working on strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, and fatigue management in a way that is safe, guided, and adapted to each person’s capacity.

The goal is not to train for extremes.
It is to support the best possible movement for each individual, so everyday independence feels more manageable βš–οΈ
