Today, Healing Hands Community Project celebrates the strength, creativity and potential of young people across South Africa.

This year’s theme, **“Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,”** reminds us that while young people may come from different communities and face different challenges, many share the same hopes: access to education, meaningful work, safety, opportunity and a future filled with dignity.

From our townships and informal settlements to schools, universities and workplaces, South Africa’s youth continue to show courage, talent and determination.

At Healing Hands Community Project, we believe young people should not only be spoken about, they should be **heard, supported and given opportunities to lead.**

HONOURING 70 YEARS OF WOMEN’S COURAGE AND RESISTANCE.This Women’s Month, Healing Hands Community Project joins South Africa in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the historic Women’s March of 1956.

On 9 August 1956, more than 20,000 courageous women from different races, cultures and communities marched to the Union Buildings to protest against the unjust apartheid pass laws.

Their courage changed our country and showed the power of women standing together for justice, freedom and human dignity.

Today, we honour their legacy by celebrating the women who continue to hold families and communities together. We recognise mothers, caregivers, survivors, community workers, professionals, volunteers and young women who rise each day despite the challenges they face.

At Healing Hands Community Project, our commitment goes beyond celebration. We continue working to support women affected by gender-based violence, poverty, homelessness and inequality. We believe every woman deserves to live safely, access opportunities and be treated with dignity.

As we commemorate the women who marched in 1956, let us also stand beside the women who still need protection, support and a platform for their voices.

When women are protected, empowered and supported, entire communities become stronger.

Mandela Month and Beyond: Communities Working Together
Healing Hands Community Project, in collaboration with the Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa Initiative, has extended the spirit of Mandela Day into Mandela Month and beyond.

Today, we were proud to be at the Barcelona Youth Centre in Helenvale, working alongside members of the community on a clean-up programme aimed at restoring and improving this important community space.

As part of the initiative, we handed over paint and painting equipment that will be used to refresh the centre. We also handed over 20 clothing collection bins, which will form part of our future winter drive. These bins will be placed at selected collection points across Nelson Mandela Bay to help gather clothing and other essential items for vulnerable individuals and families.

A special thank you to our partner, Mandela Bay Development Agency, for joining us, supporting the programme and providing access to the centre.

We also appreciate Vukuzenzele and South African Police Service Galvandale Station for joining hands with us in community work. This was a productive day of service, collaboration and practical community development.

Mandela Day reminds us that meaningful change is not limited to 67 minutes or one day. It grows when communities, organisations and partners continue working together throughout the year.

Once a community activist, always a community activist.

A Meaningful Gift of Warmth, Dignity and Care
Healing Hands Community Project extends its sincere appreciation to Collegiate Girls’ High School for donating 67 blankets collected as part of their Mandela Day initiative.

We are deeply grateful to Riana Litz, the learners, staff and the entire school community for choosing to support our work. These blankets will provide warmth and comfort to vulnerable individuals and families across Nelson Mandela Bay.

We also thank APD Nelson Mandela Bay for the generous donation of three wheelchairs. These wheelchairs will support beneficiaries through our Community Health Programme and improve mobility, independence and dignity for community members currently in need.

Every donation helps us respond to real needs and reminds our beneficiaries that they are seen, valued and supported.

Thank you to Collegiate Girls’ High School and APD Nelson Mandela Bay for helping us continue Mandela’s legacy through practical action and compassionate service.

Together, we are building a warmer, more caring and inclusive community.

📸 OUR WEEK IN PICTURES | MANDELA MONTH IN ACTION
At Healing Hands Community Project, Mandela Day is more than 67 minutes of service. We have dedicated the entire month of July to continuing Madiba’s legacy through meaningful action, community care and lasting partnerships.

This week, our team continued working alongside volunteers, donors and community partners to serve vulnerable families, support young people and improve shared community spaces.

Every meal served, donation received, wall painted and helping hand extended reminds us that real change happens when people come together with purpose.

We are proud to have transformed Mandela Day into Mandela Month, because the needs within our communities do not end after one day.

🌟 **Special Mention:** all our donors and supports Continental Butchery , BBF Safety Group, Astron Energy William Moffett , 1st Avenue My SPAR , AFDA Gqeberha, Coca-Cola and all who came through and donated kindly to this weeks effort. You have made our outreach programs like Barcelona Youth Center food distribution reach those in need.

Breaking the Silence, Building a Legacy of Strength: Reflections on Our Community Gathering in Helenvale.

This weekend, something powerful and truly inspiring happened at the Helenvale Barcelona Youth Center. Our city's heart beat as one.

The collective energy was palpable as a diverse, united community came together, shoulder to shoulder, with a clear purpose: to say a resounding 'NO' to Gender-Based Violence. This wasn't just an event; it was the birth of a movement. We came together to listen, to heal, and to build an unbreakable shield of community strength.

The most critical outcome is the foundation we've laid: a foundation where every woman, man, and child in Helenvale feels safe, supported, and empowered to raise their voice against abuse.

This success is a shining testament to the profound difference nonprofit work can make when it is fueled by collaboration with strategic stakeholders. We are deeply grateful to our partners whose commitment made this day possible:
